Not For Profit - anyone ever form one?

Really quick because I have to fly to work.

Anyone involved in their tri clubs to the extent they know how this not for profit thing works --and does it work for a tri group/team? Can you still give to another charity (financially not just time)? I have researched a couple of sites, but was curious for first hand tri team experience.

and rroof…these ingrown toe nails are now complicated by a slight tear/hematoma to the top of my flexor tendons on my foot. I might just drive up next week, for now BOTH feet are crazy bad…the pain is just too much :frowning:

I am working on 503c now for TSR…it is a PITA and costly.

Yes. There are two types (at least here in California). My club is a mutual-benefit organzation (benefits for the members). My law firm did all the paperwork (good learning experience for a young attorney) so as to the particulars, I don’t know.

clm

Record, let me know how it goes. I am totally clueless. When you are finished if you can give me an idea how much it cost you in the end would dictate whether it is worth it.

CLM–never thought about mutualy beneficial.

Ok…in over my head and now late for work.

Forming a not-for-profit corporation fairly easily. Different states have different rules, but here in Texas it’s as simple as filling out a form and sending in $25.

Getting Tax-Exempt status, on the other hand, is a pain and can take a lot of time and $$.

I helped form one for my rugby club…not really difficult, just tedious. I can send you a copy of the constitution i wrote for it if would be of any help.

So far my atty is saying that he will do it “at a discount” for only $4000.00
