NorthWave Tri shoes - issue?

I just bought a pair of NW tri shoes. While putting the cleats in the shoe, the screw (without much pressure at all) snaps the thread in half. In 18 years of bike shoes, i’ve never seen the thread actually snapping in two.

Happened to anyone?

Bought a pair of NW Tributes a couple months ago. No such problems. Actually, no problems at all. Very happy with the shoes thus far.

I am pretty sure there isn’t anything fundamentally wrong with them. They’re super comfie. Probably just a defective pair.

I bought a pair of Northwave Tribal shoes at the end of last year and I installed Look KEO cleats. I’ve gone about 2000 miles without any problems. I’m still using the first pair of cleats.

I really like these shoes.

You’re probably correct that you got a pair with some defect.

I have Northwave shoes for my Tri shoe and my road shoes, no problems and I love them.

With my first pair of Tribal shoes the threaded part in the shoe cracked in half without a whole lot of applied torque during the initial cleat install. Maybe that is the same thing you are describing. They replaced them and the replacements have been going strong for a couple years.

no problems here either but I didnt try and tighten screw with power tool

have been extremely happy with them
