No wetsuits at Austin Tri

At least it sounds that way…

…“The heat and lack of rain has also warmed up Lady Bird Lake. The current water temperature is 81 degrees fahrenheit. Conditions could change if Austin gets some rain before race day, but chances are that the swim will not be wetsuit legal.”

This is the third year of this race, in the previous two years somehow the water temp made it a wetsuit swim.

Last year there were lots of newbies especially in the sprint, I’m sure it’ll be that way this year as well. It could be a long Labor Day for those that counted on wearing a wetsuit and now can’t.

Last year race management was pretty positive that suits wouldn’t be legal until the race briefing when the RD announced that the water temp had suddenly dropped below the minimum.

So I’ll advise to pack up your suit, just in case.
