Who on ST is in? I am doing the Oly on Sunday. Goin to be a allnighter driving from A wedding in Pittsburg Saturday night. Then having to drop son off at soccer camp at Rutgers by 1:00 on Sunday. So long as I am in in 2:30 I will be happy :0). No running for two weeks now because of injury so that will be pushing it for me. Any who riding the sprint course Tommorow at 9:00 and 8:30 on sunday the oly course. So if your around and want to do the course I will be in T1/T2 area at said times :0)
In for sprint! Would love to join you in am but I hear you from Chris & Tris (my colleagues at Peddie) that you are pretty damn fast on the bike!
Rode sprint course last week and let’s just say there are some rather interesting sections. Overall, it’s not a bad course and it’s probably the best you can do given that the bridge on Old Trenton road will be gone next week!
Will be racing with the womens 45-49 - in second year of doing tris so looking to improve abit on last year’s time.
Hope you are back running soon!
Madeleine
Ole Smarty Jones is registered for the sprint.
Sounds like ole Bmanners is well tapered with a fresh set of running legs! Good luck next weekend!
dont know about me being fast, more just average then anything :0) tommorow will be a easy ride as I am taking a coworkers 16 year old son around the course. So your more then welcome to come. His first tri so I want him to be familar with the course and give him some pointers. Plus I gave him my training bike with nice wheels and figure if he knows the course he is less likely to wreck it :0). See if Chris and Tristram would like to come along. Ii have a feeling we will be to slow for you tommorow but on Sunday that is different. If you can keep up with Chris And Tristram you will be okay on Sunday.
Legs tht have not been ran on in two weeks because of injury :0(
Good luck to you to on Saturday. Wish I can be there!!!
I’m doing the Olympic, gents 30-34. 2:40 is possible. 2:45 is more likely.
Olympic. Probably ride the course on Saturday.
Ken,
Let me know if u want to on Sunday if u don’t get a chance to do it on Saturday.
I’m in for the Olympic. Signed up for the elite thinking I would enjoy the fresh water, but it looks like the world has caught on to this event as lots of studs showing up. Clark, and those two dudes profiled on the main page recently. I’m coming back from a week long vacation - no biking and too much beers. Hoping it is nice and toasty - need some prep for Vegas.
Pittsburgh eh! I have u beat. I’ll be stepping off a plane from Singapore on Thursday night and shudder to think what I’ll feel like for ths sprint on Saturday. Guess I’ll just have to HTFU.
And a couple more actually it is going to be a good race!!!
In for the Olympic. The three times that I’ve done this race it has been the hottest day of the summer, so expect a warm one!
oly. looking forward to it. looks like the bike course is about 1.5 miles shorter. is this correct? this is based on the map showing 23.8 miles and comparing my time (bike time * avg spd) from the last two years equaling 25.5 miles.
est water temp already at 83 (fishingnotes.com).
Will be there on both days. Racing the sprint. Wife will be racing the Olympic on Sunday. If you see someone in Philly Pro Tri gear with a 6mo old baby, it’ll be us. Come say hi.
I’m in. First Olympic ever. Would be thankful if anyone who scouts the bike course could post some details. Mostly interested in any climbing. Thank you.
I’m in for the Olympic as well. First time doing this race!
Bike course had to be rerouted due to a bridge closure on Old Trenton Road. So to answer your question, yes, it may be shorter than years past because this year’s bike loop is not the same route used in years past.
I understand next years route will return to the route typically used, barring any other construction issues.
Good luck to all racing!

You’ll climb onto your bike at the start of the ride and climb off at the end…that’s pretty much it for climbing!
Course is shorter due to bridge replacement and some construction in the college.
Enjoy and hope for great weather
Scouted route last weekend and will probably ride the route again this week - live only a few miles away.
No real hills /pretty flat with a few small rolls up and down.
Roads are in pretty good shape except for Cubberly Road. Be careful in that stretch as there are lots of potholes to the right and a nasty gap in the middle along the yellow line. It is a narrow road to boot. This is a section to keep your head up, looking far ahead to plan your line well if it is congested.
The other interesting section is the out and back through Mercer County Community College. Be safe in there people! I come from a crit/track racing background and even I would ride these curves rather conservatively! It is a narrow road and you will have people coming at you both ways. Don’t want to have a head on collision with someone who overcooked a corner!
Other than those two sections, there are some nice flat stretches to roll along, the turns are pretty open and you can carry speed through the turns (except through the MCCC section). The turns look much worse on paper than in person.
I’m sure others will chime in on the course layout - you are getting a crit racer turned triathlete perspective here so the true blue triathletes may have a better perspective!

You guys always put on a great race. Black Bear will always be my kick off event. I’m missing NJ State this year due to IMLP, but good luck to all and have a great weekend!
