Now I am not real big on supplements but one of my buddies recently commented that he was happy with the results from using Nitric Oxide. He actually specified GNC Nitric Oxide Maximimize. He said that he felt stronger, more focused, and had lost a few inches without being wired at 2 am. He did list the only negative that he could detect so far is that it makes him extremely hungry so discipline is a must. Anyone else try them? Is my buddy a classic case of placebo effect?
I never had it while doing any endurance activity. I have used NO Xplode by BSN sometimes before my weight training. I know it is vasodilator so it will give you a pump and some products like NO Xplode have other indridients such as creatine, L-argenine, and other aminos. I will think that it will help with muscle recovery since your vessels are wide open for better absortion of other nutrients. Only if you use a good post workout supplementantion that will enhance the benefits for recovery, I will have no problem thinking it is helpful to have NO Xplode before any type of training specially weight training.

Nitric oxide is part of the mechanism involved in Viagra’s effectiveness.
I don’t think you’re supposed to lose inches.
I have a two month old so that side effect will go unused. Any how I bought a bottle so I am going to try for two months up until the Florida Half and report back. In general I am not very fast so we will see what happens my normal paces are
Run 3:50 Stand Alone Mary
Bike 18 mph for a century
Swim 30 minute miles
We see what happens
Any “Nitric Oxide” supplement will basically be L-Arginine, or Arginine-aplha-ketoglutarate. Some have things like ornithin, citruline, niacin and so forth, but it’s really just the arginine content that’s gonna act as the vasodilator. I work at a GNC so I have the opportunity to try most things for free and talk to countless people who have tried just about everything. I have tried many of the powders that are touted as vasodilators, but back when I was doing just weight training/bodybuilding, very little aerobic stuff. They’re definitely awesome for that “pumped up” feeling when doing weights, but I haven’t had any real feedback in terms of endurance, though vasodilation can lead to increased blood flow to target muscles and thus increased oxygen delivery to the muscle and more efficient elimination of metabolic wastes, so ipso facto it may possibly be of some marginal benefit to us slowtwitchers. Seriously though I got a free bottle of NO2, the original and still one of the best NO products out there, so I’m gonna try it for a bit, but I wouldn’t drop $80 on it, that’s for sure.
Wow, I though I was living on the edge using a 2x caffeine gel. You guys take some scary stuff.
