Nimble Wheels

Thoughts on a combination of Nimble wheels - tubulars, tri-spoke Crosswind rear and fly front wheel.

Anyone heard anything about the quality of the hubs of the wheels?

I’d like to race and train on the wheels too - feelings or reviews on quality/reliability of the set for a wheels I’ll be using for IM MOO?

Thanks,

I race on a Fly front and I love it. It’s a great all condition race wheel. I’m not sure I’d use it for training though. I can’t help with the hubs, I had mine built with a Chris King hub.

An excellent combo. That’s is exactly the combo that I’m racing on. This will be my second season racing on them. The Nimble people are very helpful and professional; a joy to deal with. I went with the fly for the front, rather than dual crosswinds, for two main reasons: 1) save some cash and 2) was worried about riding with a trispoke up front on very windy days. I’m about 160lbs and the Nimble people build the fly (spoke count and lacing pattern) based on rider weight and riding style. Alot of folks are using this combo, not that is necessarily the best validation. However, I have spoken to the bike fit/aero specialists at PK Racing and they frequently recommend the setup. Hope this is helpful. In terms of quality they are excellent, rims hums etc. I would not however, ever train on them. This is not to say thet they could withstand the rigors of it. I’m sure they could. I’m sure most folks here would agree and tell you train on a nice bulletproof set of clinchers (eg rolf vector pros). Just my two cents but I love the feel of putting those wheels on race day…part of the race day ritual. Any other questions…just ask. regards. Good racing. Craig
