Does anyone have any feedback positive or negative on the Nimble Spider Wheels? These are the Nimble wheels with the aluminum rim, not the carbon fiber rim used on the Fly’s. Would they be a good tri-training wheel at $500.00.

I have had Spiders for 6 months. I purchased them with the hidden spoke nipple option. They seem bullet proof so far. I am 175 and I went with their recommendation for spoke count. I have a time trail route I use to judge improve. After up grading from Mavic CPX21 rims with Ultegra Hubs I saw my average speed go up 1 mph for 14 miles. My only concern was the stock rim tape. I started getting flats from the spokes making through the rim tape.
Saddlesore,
Are you still happy with your Spiders?

No experience with the Spiders, but I really like Nimble the company. I bought a Fly a while back and thought they were great to work with. I’ve got to imagine the Spider would be a great training wheel. Hell, I think it would be a good race wheel for climbing courses. For training I tend to go with heavier and cheaper wheels. I’m a big fan of Velocity deep-Vs with Ultegra hubs. A little heavy, but a good solid wheel. Way less than $500 by the by…
They have performed well for me. They are a compromise between training wheels and racing wheels. I ride them all the time. I have had no problems and I have timed myself for a 20k ride and I am about 1 mphb over the stock wheels for my bike original.
