So I purchased a pair of Nike Zoom Victory+ running shoes a couple of weeks ago from the local Nike outlet store. Raced in a local sprint in them the next day, which I probably shouldn’t have done without a proper breaking in period, for my both Achilles were rubbed raw – blood-soaked socks and everything. It hurt. It sucked. It slowed me down tremendously (but still snagged 2nd in my AG). To add insult to injury, I bandaged my feet and ran the Nike Human Race that evening. Apart from the wounded Achilles, I love the shoes. However, almost two weeks later, I still cannot wear them, even with the blistered-over Achilles.
My question: Has anyone else experienced anything similar on these shoes? Did I just, maybe, get a bum pair? Some department at Nike is supposed to get in touch with me in the next couple of weeks to discuss replacements, refunds, etc. I’d like to have some additional feedback for them. Curious to hear what others have to say.
i had similar problems and no, it wasn’t a bum pair. they tend to ride up quite high on the achilles and i have had my share of blisters as well (couple of my socks are ruined). what i did was walk around in them for a while and that hurt like hell for the first few days but eventually the blisters healed and broke in the shoes a bit and now they are fine. other than that i suggest wearing longer socks maybe that completely cover the achilles, but i agree they are amazing shoes

I’ve heard this from other people and discovered the same thing myself. I ordered a pair out of curiosity and the shoe has pretty much no padding in the collar. I think the Flywire upper is also a little stiffer than regular nylon mesh. I was hoping the shoe would be a good replacement for the Hayward but unfortunately it didn’t work out that way for me.
I’ve had a pair of these for maybe a month or two (can’t remember exactly when I bought them) and have put roughly 150-200 miles on them. So far so good. I do wear socks with a higher back. I think the technical term is “crew cut socks” so this might be whats stopping me from getting blisters. I really like these shoes. I bought them because I wanted something soft to put a lot of slow, form focused miles on and they’ve fit the job so far.
I’m thinking of trying the Nike Lunar Trainer and Racer Lite next.
