Nike lunar glides for supinator?

are they neutral or stability? the glides, like the elites are described as a running shoe made for runners looking for a well-cushioned, lightweight shoe that offers support to those with underpronated to overpronated gaits.

i am an underpronator (my shoes always wear out on the outter edge of the forefoot with no wear on the heel) and have always believed that this means i dont need a supportive shoe.

is this a marketing gimmick? more info on dynamic stability-- http://inside.nike.com/blogs/nikerunning_news-en_US/2010/01/15/dynamic-support-no-compromise-needed

nikes dynamic stability is supposed to give runners stability when they need it. so bottom line, do you think the glides or the elites would work for better for an underpronator? right now i run in air peg 26 and lunar racers. thanks

I supinate and find the lunar glides are just fine. I try not to over-think things and try to find lighter neutral shoes. I generally wear neutral mizuno shoes, wave rider and precision, but do like the lunar glides. I may try the lunar trainers next since I’ve enjoyed the glides so much.

They are ok for a supinator (well cushioned, if a bit straight-lasted).
The progressive density (lateral to medial) in the midsole is meant to address a wide degree of pronantion (they are trying to make a general purpose shoe like the Pegasus). As a supinator, you just won’t be using any of it.
I underpronate and was looking at these to replace my LunarTrainers, but they are a bit too heavy for me and have a molded arch (I have flat feet), so no go.

thanks for the input. im going to try a pair out this week. i will try on a pair of elites as well.

titan-have u checked out the lunarelites to replace the lunartrainers? they are a bit lighter than the glides

Not yet, I did try a pair of the LunarSwifts a few weeks ago (I have the good fortune of living 1/2 mile from a nike store). The Swifts are softer than the trainers, slightly heavier (beefier upper and more outsole rubber). They are also built on the same semi-straight last as the Glides, which didn’t work well for me.

I’m looking forward to trying the elites, and am also intrigued by the Somnio running shoes.

Underpronate with flat feet? The Elites are totally not for you. I have the same foot type and my arches were throbbing after a 30 min run cos the shoes were so inflexible. I had to make a 40 min drive all the way to the nearest Niketown to exchange them for a pair of lunaracers.

Thanks for the tip.

Yeah, I’ve got weird biomechanics and tend to do best in mushy soft shoes (been known to pop the air soles to soften some shoes up). I’ve drilled out the midsole in the LunarTrainers so they weren’t so harsh.

I’m using the Somnios now, and have pretty neutral pronation, so no need for motion control or stability, so I wear the Runaissance. I tried them since I know I have a slight wear pattern difference, and thought I could help my feet, knees, etc. out, by trying these out. I will update more as I have more info on them.

Thanks; love to get an update as you get some mile on them… They seem like a cool concept, and the fact that the arch isn’t premoulded into the midsole is a big plus for me.

Some arch is in it, but the insole creates more or less dependent on your needs.
