Nike AlphaFly 2 Stability OK now?

Hi all,

I recall a lot of the pro triathletes opting to use the ASICS Metaspeed Sky or Nike VaporFly for their 70.3 or Full Ironman runs due to the first gen AlphaFly being “less stable”.

With the new AlphaFly 2 out with a supposed wider arch area, this might increase the stability?

Anyone here use them out for a long distance tri yet and can compare from the first one?

Thanks

I’ve used them on a few training runs and they are WAY more stable than the first gen. I might use them for Ironman Canada if I can sort out some hot spot issues.

I saw a test that while the Alphafly 2 is a “tad” more stable than the original version (I don’t remember the number but it was small) but it was still way less stable than the current crop of “super shoes” that are out there. They tested the Alphafly against the newest Saucony, Asics, Adidas, NB and Hoka.

The Saucony Endorphin pro 3 is a few mm wider than previous version, 2mm iirc, and lighter by .3ozs.

It also feels awesome underfoot, better to me anyway, than any other super shoe I’ve put on.

Well, shit. And I loved the first generation. Guess I need to save my pennies.
