Nice Bike Rental

I’m looking to rent a road bike for when I’m in Nice. Can anyone recommend a place they’ve used before?

Thanks,

We rented a basic aluminum and 105 BMC from this rando place after the 70.3 in 2019. It was fine. The chain was filthy and I gave it a quick tune of the RD and the brakes myself. It got its job done. The other place we thought about was Cafe du Cyclist. It would have been a nicer bike but was more expensive. Plus it was the other end of town.

I’ve used France Bike Rental (FBR) for a cycling Camp I run in the Alps and was happy with them. They delivered to our door, and picked up the bikes when we were done.

Fairly priced and the road bikes were in good condition - climbing gears, stocked saddle bags, and such.

I believe they are still the official bike rental for IM in Europe - but don’t hold that against them ; )

FBR is available in Nice. The rep I’ve dealt with there is can be a bit challenging. We didn’t always get what we thought we rented, but in the end we got bikes. There are several other options in Nice that worked well for some folks on a group trip this past summer. Cafe du Cyclist offers outstanding service. But as mentioned they are top end pricing.

Are you looking for a TT or road bike? If the latter, The Service Course and Cafe du Cycliste are your best options for high-end models. TSC is by far the best option (and coffee) in Nice based on my experience.

Reviving a little bit of an older thread. My wife and I will be racing in Nice next year and wondering if anyone who competed in Nice this year or the recent past used a rental bike for the race? In particular, we were looking at https://www.francebikerentals.com/ (though open to other recommendations) and would love to hear about recent experiences in renting a bike for this race/venue. Any pros? Cons? Things to consider with this approach as to bringing a bike with you? Would be nice in a number of ways to not have to worry about bringing a bike, particularly as we plan to do a bit of sightseeing after the race.

I used them to rent a road bike for Vichy 70.3 and give them top marks. The mechanics were great and helped me put on BTS cages and my pedals. My seat height that I had emailed over was correct. They also collected the bike from T2 which was extremely helpful for me at that race.

I used them for the Nice WC last week and I was very happy with the decision. I decided to rent a bike rather than bring my own fairly late so they didn’t have full tri bikes available anymore but the Lapierre Aircode DRS 7 they still had available was still a good bike.

It was super easy to collect the bike from the expo and drop it off after the event. They were happy to install my pedals and any other pieces that I had and I could bring it back for adjustments until I was completely happy. I picked it up on Wednesday so I got a couple of test rides under my belt before the race.

Overall it was very easy and much easier than travelling from Australia with my bike.

If I do another event in this part of the world (which I would like to do) then I definitely plan to use FBR again.

Thanks to you both, this sounds like a really good option.

Good luck with the race - I think you’ll love it. The race and the region are both spectacular.
