We have a thread for that! Congrats on your race!
I got my first jelly sting too.
Good seeing you out there good to suffer with people you know.
I think my wife made a good a point with the fact the race in leaving nice. They have qualifiers in Lisbon , Italy, Germany. Not the end of Europe.
True! And good to see fellow
out there. Sorry it didn’t go to plan.
Re Europe: I do not know many Canadians remotely interested in Jacksonville🤦♂️ And now they announced IMAZ is done after 2025 we only have Cali on west coast. So yeah, onto Europe racing! We were in Cascais Portugal on vacation 2023 and its stunning. Its on my want list but age is catching. Sunday was an eye opener🤷🏼♂️
No worries, half the time it doesn’t go to plan that’s why it’s worth doing. Next time you do the same thing and it’s near perfect ???
Yup North America market is odd , everything is downriver and flat and not many west coast options. See you at the peach classic.
I can barely grip anything in my left hand. Luckily my business hand is ok. ![]()
It is odd. USA is the largest number of racers at world championships by nearly twice as a the number two country and our full distance races don’t sell out and the all too frequently get eliminated.

Sodaro won Kona, I’m pretty sure she was a mum ![]()

Oh for fucks sake,we all heard about Sodaro. If I wanted to mention her I would have.
And that is the point.Recent tri media would have everyone believe that the only pro triathletes who have ever had kids are Sodaro,Long and Sanders.
No the point is u missed the joke…
Is Chelsea a mum? I don’t think it ever got mentioned ![]()
Nah, she keeps it pretty low key
According to the Fiesty Coven,yes.
Now I know we’re just teasing about the mom thing, but you have to remember that for many if not most/all women their children will literally always be a part of them. Literally bits of their DNA will be in Mom’s brain. Their hearts are actually synchronized down to the millisecond when she’s holding them.
So… Don’t begrudge someone who has given their entire life over to their little one and now has them forever interwoven with their identity.
It’s often hard for Moms to talk about other things or separate themselves from that perspective and that’s for a good biological reason we should be proud of and support, not tease.
Side notes I mentioned way back post 2024 kona sam laidlow seems to have raced for a sub 4 hr and some folks called that stupid , haha, looks like he did have that goal that day .
As Lange said in the kona 2024 video ( both canyon athletes) he was also under the impression he was going for sub 4 hr and why he shouldn’t chase him. Inside help from a canyon guy to help Lange save some for the run knowing the situation.
Then it seems like Sam in nice had a goal to also break the course record there, good for him after such a rough start.
Likely all tied to bonuses by canyon of course but has this lead to Sam racing his smartest for placement vs bonuses in bike records?
I don’t think he would have beat the Norwegians but maybe MVR ?
How much do we think these bonuses are worth $$$.
It’s an interesting thing if an athlete looks at the odds and says, “I can almost certainly earn that bonus, but I can’t almost certainly win. The bonus payout is the sure money, so I’ll take it.”
But really is the bonus that big? I can’t imagine a six figure bike course bonus. But maybe Canyon figures it ultimately makes them enough sales if it can manage to sell 50 bikes over the next couple years to say it’s the record holder for all the World Championship bike courses.
Oh for fucks sake,we all heard about Sodaro. If I wanted to mention her I would have.

she is the only mum in triathlon ever, dont argue with the facts.
Canyon [would like] to say it’s the record holder for all the World Championship bike courses.
Wurf holds the record for the St George World Championship bike course - on a Pinarello sfaik. That isn’t going to be bettered anytime soon.
Then it seems like Sam in nice had a goal to also break the course record there, good for him after such a rough start.
I think the record occupies very little of his mindset during the race. If he was a 2;50 runner then yes he would be going harder on the bike. But he is a very competitive runner and even in this race where he was quite hampered early on, he still put out a 2;42 run. Which is about where he usually runs on his good days.
He goes for bike course records because he is the fastest biker, they are mostly a by product of his abilities and his strategies for beating better runners..Last years Kona has been the anomaly for him in big races, and that one feels more like a heat/nutrition issue. Although have to admit riding that fast certainly puts both those categories on a very fine line…
That time there was a not-so-fun reason for it
