Nice 2025 worlds thread

No one started one so I thought it would help some .

Swam in the sea heard it was 25.5, felt great. I hate these damn rocks.

I didn’t get a timing chip at race registration? Did you ? Maybe they give them when you get your bike checked in.

Almost caught in that downpour out on the bike.
Damn that was crazy heavy rain . 60 minutes.

This place is awesome ,love it, wife loves it more than kona. I only love kona for the race.

Taking a motorcycle out tomorrow to check the course for potholes will make a list and let you know .

I rode the descent the other day, most of the big potholes and cracks have been marked with paint

Only marked with paint? Not filled in?

Should we go fill it ? Let’s start a go fund me . This is a world championship!!!

That’s why i am going to check it out I don’t want to crash . Life lesson have been learned in the past .

Really into Nice as a champs course. The run course is built for sneaky drama since you don’t see what’s behind at turns… okay once but whatever.

Really keen to see how Laidlow goes.

I like loops when it is the run , bike no thanks.

Plus it’s much smarter race planning as after 5 pm the race is small and aid stations are limited and ambulance safety to a small distance.

Like you pass you at kona queen K right into the energy lab , you got to get an ambulance out there and back vs someone within a 5 km race distance so easy on the volunteers, and race organizers.

Even the swim in nice is better basic math 1/4 sides and the water here is amazing

All reasonable points from an organisational point of view.

I’m watching on my couch though and none of these are factors for me watching “the big one”

The course is a lot of up but very little steep up, the downhill does have lots orange paint but if you haven’t ridden it be more careful with the speed bumps right before a hard turn.

Also at about 168 km there is no smooth pavement it looks like they are either about to put it down tomorrow or the next day as it’s all grooved out , but if not paved by race day yikes is in a bit of a right turn too.

If you go to Cannes the Thai place Chaï Dee is very good . If you also want to feel poor , go to Cannes.

Watching the Nice bike course and it’s surrounding stunning beauty beats Kona hands down IMO.

Yeah trees and mountains beat lava fields in general.

I’d still prefer to race Kona though.

They have been putting down new asphalt all week on that road after you turn north from the promenade

Even more than Monaco?

I do recommend going to Ville-France, the beach there is a lot calmer than the rough and tumble experience on the rocks in Nice

No about the same as Monaco but maybe a bit less smug, haha . I have been and going again tomorrow.

We did 340 km on the motorcycle today and tomorrow plan for another 150 before returning the bike it’s pretty awesome riding here. The lane splitting is new and I don’t trust people but it’s makes a motorcycle for transportation so much faster than a car during busy hours .

Monaco is probably richer but it’s ostentatious.

Cannes is a nice rich.

I’ve raced both and each have their own advantages and disadvantages for both athletes and family.

I wanted to do a bike ride today but the traffic is scary around here. No thanks.

Nice lots of folks running and biking around .

Kona lots of super fast highway traffic with Cross winds .

It’s a toss up

What do we think are the odds for a wetsuit-legal swim on Sunday. At the practice swim (4 days prior to race day) they said it was 1 full degree (Celsius) above the cutoff. I don’t know how much the water temperature varies around here but that sounded like it was unlikely to get under the limit.

Anyone have any experience with water temperature variations in Nice?

Easy turbo they usually do that the day before  Good to see you in the hallway today.

I am hoping for no wetsuit, so I am biased but 2019 was no wetsuit and it was a similar week leading in .
