Newton running shoes (8)

I am thinking of buying a pair of Newton stability guidance trainers. What are peoples thoughts on Newton shoes?

I have the red ones (gravitas neutral trainer), and they beat me up! Great shoes otherwise, but definitely reserved for race day or hard/fast training. If I buy another pair, I’ll get the ones Crowie wears.

I use to have heavy shoes with a lot of support, but I have been running in the Newton Stability Trainers since October and I am very happy with them. I also ran a ½ Ironman in the Stability Racers without any problems. But you have to get use to the new running style slowly.

Over the past 14 months I have been training in five fingers and Newton performance trainers. For the past 6 months I have been racing in Newton performance racers. I gave up the Kayanos and have not looked back. My race times are faster, training miles longer, and injuries are gone.

My trainers are 500 miles plus, and the way they are wearing I should have them for 1000.

Take it easy in your transition. The biomechanics of your gait will be different if you are coming from a typical elevated heeled cushioned shoe.

I bought a pair of those this spring - I too have gotten faster and hurt less. So far set PRs on sprint and oly races and did my first 1/2 marathon faster than expected.

I’ve also been happy with customer service. One of the sole pieces near the heel started peeling off - they asked me to email a photo, then said it was a manufacturing defect and are sending me a new pair.

Definitely do what they say in terms of easing in to it slowly. Your lower legs will thank you.

I have a pair of the new gravity ones (blue) and I love them. They are very light and they really helped with my running style. I have had a few issues moving onto them but I did it very quick (1 day) so its my own fault. Now I love them and my speed has really improved. I think I have taken 10 sec a k off my avg speed over 21k. I use them for all my running now.

I just did a search on “newtons” and came up with 141 pages. Have fun.

I’ve been using it for a quite a while now and I’m quite impressed with it. Newton shoes, while not exactly a traditional barefoot running shoe, the benefits that you get from running in them can be substantial. With patented technology, Newton designed a high-end shoe that not only provides massive support for your foot, but also trains you to run correctly by forcing you to land and “strike” the ground correctly.

I came across a review site which gives you a detailed information about Newton running shoes. Check out this site: http://barefootrunningshoes.org/newton-running-shoes/mens/

Hope this helps

8 months ago I could not run 3 miles without knee pain. Did 12 miles on Saturday. The Newtons may not make me “faster” but they enable me to keep running.

Great customer service. Be careful about using them as 100% replacement to your normal running shoes. I was putting 40-50 miles/week exclusively in the Newton’s until I was developed some Achille’s tendon problems.

Great shoes. Definitely help you improve your time and you can do some really great things in them. Just be careful when you first get started with them, and work in some runs in your regular shoes every now and then. Enjoy.
