I’ve read this forum pretty regular but never got round to signing up! Anyway, it seems like a good place for advice…
Right, just built my own bike, looks good but I have a problem with my FSA Carbon Superlight cranks. I’ve only done about 4 training rides (probably no longer than 35-40 miles) and one race (12 mile bike). I’ve started to get a pretty serious knocking sound that can be felt through the pedal unless pedaling in perfect circles (probably). No visible damage to the Pedal and threads but haven’t got round to getting the cranks off (job for this week!). The pedal is Look A5.1…
Has anyone had the same problem or advice on what to look for?
I had same problem after building up my own bike – your bottom bracket is loose. Did you use a torque wrench when installing your BB? You can rent one, or go to your LBS and have them do it for you – the peace of mind is well worth the fee.
I had the LBS check the B/B as I couldn’t get the left side tight enough (B/B fitting tool wasn’t big enough). When finished the mechanic turned the spindle and said it was done. Got home and checked the spindle, seemed a little stiff but because it was checked I didn’t bother checking it. My Dad picked up on the fact it was stiff but because it was checked by the LBS, said it must be ok to use…
