Newbie has a bike question

Hello all…I recently completed my first tri and I had a blast. Since that time I have lurked on these boards trying to gather as many tips as possible. So, I have a question regarding my bike I was hoping someone could answer.

But first, a little background. I am very new to biking and tri’s. I hope to stay involved and do at least one per year for the years to come. I can’t see myself ever trying anything longer than an Olympic distance race. Also, I don’t envision doing any road races. My bike will be used for training and for tri racing only.

The bike I used for my tri is this one…http://store.bicyclerevolution.com/scsuspgsrobi.html. As you can see, it is a road frame and wheels but it has the flat handlebar. I threw some clip-on aerobars on it for the tri as well. It has clipless pedals. After my tri I felt the desire to take longer training rides and be more serious about the biking. To accomplish that I thought I would need a new bike…but then I had a thought. Is it possible to replace the old handlebar with a traditional road handlebar and STI shifters/brakes? Would I have to replace any other parts? Would it totally throw off the fit?

I am wanting to improve my biking yet I don’t have the money to spend on a whole new bike right now. Also, not sure I want to drop $1k or more into a bike until I know for sure this is something I will pursue long term. Any insight will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

you could be creative, but, yes

Would I have to replace any other parts?

bar, levers, shifters, maybe stem, possibly brakes

Would it totally throw off the fit?

looks like mountain bike geometry, can’t tell
