I think it has been talked about already. I just read the release though.
“All Half Ironman events licensed by WTC will now use the term Ironman 70.3 rather than Half Ironman”
Umm… 70.3 just sounds friggin stupid, or is it just me? It’s still a HALF Ironman. Let’s change the name of Ironman to Ironman 140.6 while we’re at it, just so there is no confustion. OH WAIT, even better, how about the Ironman 32.1 (oly distance)!

b) Using the out-aged miles scale, only used in USA and UK for a WORLD Champ. A 1/2 IM is 123km.

Looks like they want to keep the races attractive by not using the word ‘half’ in it. Good ole fashion marketing…
I wonder if in the end they’ll fal out with the ITU and then offer a quarter distance. A shorter swim than Oly but with a decisive bike with a similar run. Sounds good to me…
