New Wetsuit (3)

Hello to all,

Just registered here and would like some advice from all of you more experienced in triathlon.

I live in Crete, Greece. There is plenty of sunshine here (i mean beach bars are open about 7-8 months /year) and weather is usually warm. We have about 10 degrees Celsius in January.

I have been a Swimmer (ages 4-15) and afterwards a track athlete (800m and 1500m distances) until i was 20.

For the past 7 years (i am now 27) i have been doing quite a lot of outdoor sports (mainly windsurfing, freeriding, mtb, snowboard (northern Greece) and skiblades) while keeping my swimming and running almost as a daily routine.

For the past few months some friends of mine have been persuading me to also start doing some road bike. so i may as well give triathlon a chance

now, i am actually on the market for a new wetsuit. i have been swimming for years w/o a suit until i tried a entry level Blueseventy suit and found the experience quite good.

I have been browsing the net for the past few days and found Orca 3.8, Blue Seventy Helix TST (2008) and 2XU V:1 Velocity suits as top end.

Which one would you people suggest?

Oh, my build. This might be tricky. I stand at 1.80m tall but am only 69kgs (this is the curse of an endurance athlete… it would have been difficult if i was doing 100 or 200m instead of 1.5km).

Kind Regards for your advices

Welcome to the group! If you are very slender, I would recommend the Aquaman suits, which are tremendous as far as quality and speed. But you will hear on this forum, the best advice is to go and try them on. A fast suit is no bargain if it doesn’t fit. Good luck in your search.

No, I wouldn’t call me very slender. In fact from the waist up i am quite ok. it’s my feet that would be called slender. although i am not lacking strength… anyway it’s just my build. thank you so much for the brand i will check it out also

You need to try them on. There is a big difference in body styles between the 2XU and the Blue Seventy (Not sure about where the Orca fits).

I have no problem with a medium Blue Seventy suit but if I tried the V:1 in the size recommended by 2XU (also M), I felt like I was in a straight jacket.
