New: Wattshop goodies

New “cheaper” (£390/$470) extensions but look what is dropped in the photos as well.

To be honest I thought they look very much like an evolution of the D2Z extensions (£162.50/$200), someone on their IG video mentioned another brand as well.

They look a lot like the poles on the new Cadex tri frameset (which I think are Sync?). That price though, wow.

D2Z have had similar protos for a while that seem to integrate the pads and extension better on what seems like a 22.2 extension, so be interested to see the price of those when available.

Crazy times… piece of plastic $500…

Just as well we aren’t all entering a growing cost of living crisis. Oh no, wait…

Speedshop 51 drop their extensions out next week (the ones the argon 18 have)

Hope they are cheaper than this

$470 without the cups? Wtf?

They don’t look too bad… but once you start getting into these prices I’d REALLY want to be sure they both fit me AND I actually got the claimed gains (Paging Stover…)

This is an interesting note from their Facebook post: “It’s important to note that the extension angle matched the armrest angle. We chose this set up option as it is currently more prevalent than the traditional option of an angled armrest paired with an high-rise extension angle.”

I wonder how much of the variances changes if they don’t match.

However this arm support on a 22.2 is only relevant if you ride narrow cup position. As you move cups outward the support offered isn’t truly arm support….

I have designs ready for something like this but can cut like my CSR+ and add in the hand grip, etc. however still working on an attachment way that can allow it to move with pad width and angle to match without being too heavy and bulky.

So, in honesty your better off with my CSR+ than this. Also obviously most high end systems now tilt pad and poles together.

3-5w claimed savings for $500+ after shipping, customs, etc. yikes!

Narrow is okay for me but probably not for most. With the UCI on the edge of becoming progressive, I get a couple extra CM to play with now so I’m back on the market as these have been cut for 6+ years now.

What is the claim ?

I’m guessing the CdA decrease is more from the repositioning of the hands than the “bump” joining the pole to the forearm. Not really apples-to-apples. Do they have any pictures of the test setups side-by-side?

not from the link in the op at least

Other, better priced options will also be hitting the market soon

The Vision J-bend Speed extensions look similar to those at a fraction of the cost.

Will they come in UCI legal options?

That extension is UCI legal, only have to obey the 40mm dimension rule for extensions
Obviously the position is not UCI legal.

Will any of the options work with the subsonic bracket assuming I have my Race cups all the way forward?

Maybe, given that you are a normal sized person*
I don’t have any Subsonic brackets here to check with, but looking at the shorter option relative to a basebar it looks like I would get my extension length with that setup
You’ll want the Race+ armrest too. New tapered pad makes it a bit more comfortable

*like everyone else, I consider myself to be normal.
