the new ace has a wind port/ sensor… any speculation or even better knowledge on what is the plan?
At the Twin Cities Marathon expo the Wahoo rep told me about this. Showed me a unit too. Wish I would have asked for more details but I am happy with my Garmin and not sure I have the need for the wind sensor…. Of course, after I see what others are doing with it maybe I will change my mind.
Does Wahoo have a booth in Kona?
I had/ have an old iBike Newton and admit the wind data was interesting. That would be interesting if I was to replace my Garmin.
That would be kinda cool… If Wahoo could nail the wind sensor thing, it could propel them back toward the top-of-mind space for bike computers.
I talked with a pro coach last week who is partnering on the development of a new sensor. He has worked with other aero sensors in the past, and his take is that they have been imperfect to date, but he has high hopes for the one he is playing with now.
What I found interesting was the relative effort given to wind when I was using the iBike. It may not have been perfect, and I grant you know intuitively the effect but to see numbers for when you had a tail wind vs head wind was kind of cool.
