New veloflex record tubular 23mm on ENVE 7.8 front?

Hi everyone, i need your help please.

I have tested the new veloflex record 23mm tubular on a Stinger 9 front. And after one month of TT ride, and compared to conti competion pro ltd 22mm (with latex tube) on a Stinger 9 too, the veloflex is everytime faster, around 3 to 5 watts. On mix road, you feel that the veloflex smooth a lot more at same pressure. A french specialist in rolling resistance have tested the tubular version 2 watts slower than the new record clincher with latex tube on a pair of wheel, not so bad for tubular when you see that the veloflex record is the fastest on aerocoach test.

Stinger 9 is perfect for 23mm, but i own a set of Enve 7.8 tubulars with the textured brake track. I would lik to use it instead of the Stinger because braking is outstanding, so you can brake later and with some prcious seconds. And the stability of the Enve 7.8 is just amazig for a 71mm deep wheel. The problem is that Enve recommend 25mm aero optimized. The max width of the rim is 29mm, but the brake track (on the tubular version) is around 26.5,27, like zipp firecrest. The veloflex record tubular is only available in 23mm. I have asked Enve, they told me to ask the french seller (i live in France), but the answer is useless : “brake track is 29mm (no, max width 29mm brake track 26.5…) so 25mm”

So, i ask if some of you is still using Enve 7.8 tubulars and have done some tests with 23mm, thank’s !!!

This was on clincher wheels, not tubular, but ERO sports have done some testing and said 23mm tires are quite bad on enve wheels but they “come alive” with a 25, so I’d look for a 25mm tire. Surely the corsa speed tubular comes in a 25mm, and I bet it’s in the same ballpark as far as rolling resistance goes.

Thank’s for the reply, yes i thought about the corsa speed, but the crr of the veloflex seem’s really lower. What is really interesting with the Veloflex Record is that the tubular as a little anti puncture calicot belt. Very nice for peace of mind in a TT front wheel that puncture less than the rear wheel.
