New Triathlon Youtube Channel

Hey All,

I’m a bit of a lurker here, but a few years ago I actually did an AMA in this forum and you guys seemed to like it. For some context, I’m an American pro triathlete living in Spain, also working a remote job. I’ve also started a youtube channel, because ADHD has absolutely NO LIMITS and my energy levels are wild. I’d love to get some of your feedback, and if you guys have some questions I’d be happy to do an AMA video.

I’ve been working on my overall production quality and it’s gotten a little bit better and I think the videos don’t suck that much, plus a ton of people always ask about where the content is from these pro athletes, and then tell us why we never get paid. Well, here’s your chance to watch my life from behind the scenes as I try to qualify for IMWC in Nice this year.

Last season I broke 8 hours in the IM at Barcelona where I also ran a 2:41 off the bike. I’ve also been slowly getting up into the top 10 range at European races, and learning how to race over here has been super cool.

Hope you guys enjoy the content, and if anybody has questions about what I’m doing or how I’m doing it I’m happy to connect. I may not be Sam Long level of results (yet), so nobody will watch my videos purely because I’m fast, but I think my story is really cool because I was actually working full time, while racing pro, managed to quit, move to europe, and now I’m basically living my dream life every day.

Cheers,
Ernie

I wonder why you´d be tagging “Lionel Sanders Trevor Foley Ari Klau Sam Long Sam Laidlow Marten Van Riel Taylor Knibb T100 Youri Keulen” etc in your video??

Isnt that just piggy backing on other Pro´s fame?

What’s an AMA?

Nice relaxed pretty video, I’dbe interested your thoughts on why Girona is such a focus for triathletes and any external factors in that.

If you like vlogging your routes, perhaps you could upload or link virtual routes for your followers to ride.

Good luck with the Season to Nice :+1:

Great run in Barcelona!
That was a real step up from 2:50+ in your previous IMs.
Any particular changes you made to achieve that?

Keyword stuffing is actually against YouTube’s tos and might actually do more harm than good. I wouldn’t recommend it.
It’s much better to include relevant text and keywords. In a video like this it shouldn’t be difficult to come up with enough ideas.

@emantell congratulations for launching the video and thank you for sharing your experience!

it’s to try and pop up as a suggested video if somebody searches for those videos, so my content can be found. I am not familiar with the youtube algorithm but have seen other creators in different spaces do it, so that’s why i did it here. Is there something wrong with associating yourself with other pros lol?

Well that was the 4th one i’ve finished, so i wouldn’t say it was shocking. the course was also a little short  and the bike leg was incredibly flat compared to Austria. But I think really just a good pacing strategy on the run coupled with it being a fairly easy course. It’s not super hard to run that fast, the problem is that everyone tries to run a 2:34, then ends up running a 2:50. so if you just try to run a 2:39, you end up running 2:40-2:45. In austria I held around 6:28/mi, and here in BCN was 6:19/mi according to GPS. I had to pee a few time in Austria, vs. here i didn’t really have to pee as much, which saved me a bit of time too, since moving time in Austria was actually around 2:49. So to answer, a lot of things… Course, another marathon in the legs, more experience, and 2-2:30 trail runs in the mountains, and being honest with myself that I am not a 2:35 guy, but I am maybe a 2:44 guy (which is what I would have been around if the course was actually 26.2)

Are you using the AliExpress aerobar extensions?
Do they give you enough reach, how solid are they? No fear they’ll fall apart just at the wrong time?

thanks.

Thanks! Yeah, ADHD one of those things you kinda just have to take advantage of if you can on certain things. It certainly hurts some areas but sometimes when I can hyperfocus it’s wild.

Good eye! I got them directly through Winow (but yeah, they have an aliexpress store), they took some time to arrive but they’re low key nice AF. Zero fear. I’m 100% sure they’re the exact same as the FASTT Bars. I have no fear with them, honestly, and have used them for over a month now and really, really like them.
