Sprint = .75 mi / 13 mi / 5k
Olympic = 1mi / 25 mi / 10k
Half Ironman = 2.5 k / 50 mi / 13.1 mi
Ironman = 5k / century / marathon
Boom!
Ironman distance would be more equitable, just as challenging if not more so, and much easier to describe to non-triathletes.
On a .5 mi sprint tri swim, why bother even getting wet?!? Such a short distance, might as well
skip it.

If you do that you might as well make the Olympic swim 1.5 miles
The 5k, century, marathon distance ironman should be fairly easy to put together with all of the
all ready established century rides and marathon run courses out there.
It would be nice to see some modified distance on occasion.
Or you could just eliminate this part and nothing needs to change at all. Some triathletes like to believe that others care about what they do…they really don’t.

The seemingly now defunct Leadman races had compelling distances:
Leadman 85: 1km swim; 75km bike; 12km run
Leadman 125: 2.5km swim; 106km bike; 12km run
Leadman 250: 5km swim; 223km bike; 22km run
Raced the 125 in Bend a few years ago and it was a nice distance, and fabulous course.
Unfortunately WTC now has these races (I think). Hopefully they will keep the distances the same. It’d be a shame to change them to standard 70.3 and 140.6 distances. More than enough of those already.
