New to trainer road

Have to try something new. Sick of being so f’n slow. Want to try trainer road but have not signed up yet. I read that they have many plans to choose from once you are a member. Any particular plan you all really like that I can concentrate on this fall/winter/spring? IM Louisiville calling me back and I have demons on that bike course I want…need to exorcise!

Right now they don’t have a dedicated IM plan but they say they are working on it. There are a couple of build plans that have good workouts that would be good if your fitness is not really good yet but I feel they don’t have enough hours to them so I would have to add rides which isn’t a big deal… I myself during this time of year use the cyclocross plans and really work on my VO2 max power. In Jan I will start the 40K plan that for my FTP specific work.

Hmmm. Was thinking people would chime in with base, base, base. VO2 max now huh? I always thought of that as clsoer to race type stuff but then again, I am slow.

I am also doing some Cyclocross races. I think the intensity helps me later. For me the Base work will start in mid to late Dec then the 40K plan working up to my A race.

I would do Base then 40K TT plans to get that power up. You can do race specific stuff closer to race time. Now is the time to build power

You have 40 weeks to go, which is plenty of time to make some real meaningful bike changes.

You could start out with classic base or sweet spot base, then move into build or 40k TT for early season races. Then give yourself a bit of rest and a good 12-18 week build up to IM Louisville.

It’s not a bad idea to do that build/40k TT session early in the season. That focuses on raising your FTP which will work wonders for your IM build.

I will def check out the base programs and what they entail. My computer at work wont let me in to view the different programs. Thanks

Signed up last night. Looks like its going to be great. Just waiting on the speed sensor to get going. Question. Looking through the training plans, is there a way to “sign” up for one and it stay in your profile to keep track of workouts or do you have to go into a plan every time, remember what day of the plan you are on and proceed that way?

Not yet, but we’re working on it.

At least put them in alphabetic order it would make one hell of a lot easier to find individual ones.

We recommend using the search box to find a specific workout.

Just type in the name and it will come up.

We put it in order of newest first. This alerts users of new workouts that they might want to check out.
