On the eve of Dan Bigham’s hour record attempt, (with the help from other others) I’ve found some flashy new kit! If only money grew on trees!

I think I’ll be looking for a tree for that Anemoi base bar…
I hope base bars with wings that come off become more popular. But maybe something for less than $1500? Lol.
Cyclenutz, get on it
I’ve thought a lot about removable or moving wings. I’m certainly not saying that any bars tested to ISO are unsafe but our test standards are way above ISO (the team have made and tested more aerobars than anyone else) so I am loathe to put moving parts up against the testing.
Also the next generation of bars would have their design hampered by plug in wings.
I’m at the stage now where most days I would take ease of travel over a few watts. Safety is of course non-negotiable. Do you think the bars on Shiv, P5x, and Willier would not pass your tests?
Any hints you can share about next gen bars? And perhaps next gen bikes that you alluded to when long-low fit was discussed in another thread?
I really can’t comment about other brands. The ones you mention have high standards so I wouldn’t be concerned.
Next gen bars I also can’t say much. I think most of the trends are fairly clear, my job is to figure a way to mitigate the limitations of the current generation products (99% sure I’ve done this).
And if I get my way, will be making it easier for bikes to have a better fit range, you’ll see this on one brand in the next year.
I don’t know if this is a common feature nowadays (been a long time since I bought my Devox bars…) but the interlocking slotted riser stack spacers caught my eye. Nice to adjust stack height without having to recable the extension shifters. Is this a feature in many bars where the extensions mount on the riser stack?
Cheers, Rich.
meh… looks fine, nice bar… that price though.
good to see 15°sweeps back in high end aero gear charts
it’s odd no USE R1’s in the test… considering they’ve been used by HUUB and are less obscure than DARE (which look kind of like a Missile with more “normal” mounting)
Actually everything but the Missile is an odd pick. Aduro is a fast bar, but not really something you see off of a P5 very often.
but that’s nitpicking of course
The fun part of anyone posting data.
The Dare bars are in there because Dan’s fiance’ Joss rides for UNO-X and Wattshop has done a fair amount of testing with the team. Dan has used the Missile until these bars were released. The Aduro one is an odd choice, but probably set-up already at SSE So they tested it. The USE bars haven’t been used by them for a while (2018?). I think they’re fast for the track, but likely not used due to lack of braking control on technical courses.
What could possibly make a set of disc wheels worth $8,000?? They a flat monocoque wheels, aerodynamically identical to $500 Alibaba specials. Custom hub spacing? Sorry, but washers have existed for hundreds of years
yeah, I see why they chose them, I just…also have my mind wonder at what’s missing.
From a purely - what my audience likely has to upgrade from - I’d have shoved the PDQ/alibaba/whatever 3T clones in, either Brezza’s or Vola’s, likely the USE and definitely the Tririg.
The Tririg and the USE for different reasons than the 3T/PDQ.

you forgot the custom cut cog
realistically though, the wheels are just like the UKSI special bikes / Crux helmets of the 2012 Olympics… sure “they are for purchase” wink wink.

I wonder what the Carbonwasp guy thinks of the 100% direct ripoff of his tilt block design.
Other than the outer shell piece shape, it’s literally the exact same thing using the two barrel nuts to adjust the tilt.
Guarantee they are are symmetrically lenticular and not flat. What makes them $8000, that’s the price if someone really really wants them. Princeton is making these for Bingham and Ganna. They have to be available. They really don’t want to manufacture and sell track disc wheels. But for that price and non-refundable they’ll do it.

agreed. That has got to be one of the most absurd things I have seen for cyclists.
That made me shake my head.

I might be wrong but I’d been led to believe carbonwasp did/does make parts for wattshop.

Really? Interesting. How would the non compete work on that?!
I mean they’re the same products competing for customers.
Also oddly, despite it working and being a slick tilt solution……the barrel nuts aren’t my favorite. They can induce swear words.
