New tarmac tire clearance

I’m considering getting the new specialized tarmac through a team deal.

Anyone know what the max tire clearance is? I’ve seen a lot of reviews that show 25mm tires on wide rims that show plenty of clearance and/or comment that there should be plenty of room for larger tires, but was wondering if anyone has tried 28s or 30s.

Thanks
Andy

I recall reading the new Tarmac can clear 28mm measured tires… which is usually a 25mm tire on a wide rim.

I believe it says up to 30mm. I have run 28mm tires on the current tarmac without issue and the new one is supposed to have more clearance

From their website 'We also added tire clearance up to 30mm, which translates to a 28mm Turbo Cotton on a Roval CLX 50 wheel. ’

I will get a chance to look at a new Tarmac up close tomorrow.
I will try to take some measurements.

As others have said- it will likely fit a “measured” 28mm tire- That said, a 25mm GP4000 II measures almost 28mm on a wide rim.

Disc or rim brake? That might make a difference as to how much room you have for tires

30mm but it depends a bit on wheel/tire combo
.

I just fit a lucky guy who has a 2018 S Works Tarmac-
The bike had Roval CLX50 wheels on it and Specialized Turbo Cotton 700x26mm tires (that measured 28mm with my calipers).

The bike had between 5-6mm of clearance at the stays- calipers said chainstay with was 39mm at the tire.
7-8mm between tire and downtube.

Up front there was almost 7mm clearance between the tire and the front brake. about 6mm at the sides.

So you can probably run a tire that is slightly larger than the 700x26mm Specialized Turbo Cotton.

Perfect. Just what I needed.

Thanks again.
