A girl in my club has been racing TT’s on the FM086 and has nothing but good things to say about the bike. It certainly looks like ‘the business’ to me. I love the look of the front end / integrated stem.
I like working / building my own bikes and I already have an open mould road bike for over a year now that I’m quite happy with (FM098). If I were in the market for a TT frame, I would seriously consider this rig.
Save yourself $1000 and get what it is an open mold frame fm086
ok, i’m not sure what exact an open mold fm086 frame is…but I assume it is a Chinese retailer product on ebay/hungfu or other sites right??
I have no problem with that, but it still doesn’t answer the question of disassembly and reassemble the bike for traveling to races. Traveling has become such a nightmare in this sport with airlines, TSA, rental cars that a major assembly job of the headset, etc is not what I want.
I was hoping someone has bought a stradelli and travelled/raced with it…I didn’t see a one at AG Nat’ls in Milwaukee to ask the person it.

Yes - check this link on Ebay to see a frame with similar but not exactly the same mold. As for packing the bike up for travel, while I do not own that frame, the seat post and integrated bars come off easily enough, but the answer will depend on whether your case allows the fork to be turned which would then allow the bars to ‘lay’ down beside them otherwise it would depend on how much ‘slack’ there is in the housings to allow the bars to be ‘folded back’ for packing. If you are running electric shifting then you could simply unplug the wiring harness and for mechanical, since it is all internal cable runs, you could loosen the shift cables at the attach points on the derailleurs but probably not as simple for that ‘behind the bottom bracket’ cantilever style brake.
FYI, just like any open-mold frame, when you buy from a retailer you’re getting better warranty support (and usually QC). I’ve purchased several open mold frames direct from China and also from US retailers. The US version were hands down much more finished and with better QC. However, the Chinese frames were significantly cheaper and worked perfectly well once I got issues worked out (eg, facing integrated headset).
Ironically, I’ve had the opposite experiences on wheels. I recently got some new carbon clinchers direct from China, and the finish and build were as nice as anything I’ve gotten in the US. Then again, I build my own wheels so I provide my own “warranty” support…
