New Running Shoes (K-Swiss Misoul)

So after a local tri I did on Sunday I tried out some of the K-Swiss Misoul running shoes out of curiosity (K-Swiss was a sponsor and had a booth). When I put them on and ran a little I realized what a dumb ass I’ve been for running in my New Balance 1224’s with Spenco inserts. The Misoul’s felt a pound lighter yet had the same stability that I like at 6’2", 200 lbs. Why the hell was I running in a stability/motion control shoe WITH an insert!

So I went out and bought a pair of the shoes and did a 4 miler today. The result…they are noticeably lighter and I was able to improve my normal 7:30 pace pretty easily.

Some general thoughts about the shoe:

  • sits low on my foot, eliminating any ankle rub
  • feels stiff but you still maintain some moderate feel of the ground
  • has a nice stable feel/platform
  • the inserts feel different and one is lighter but I’m not sure how much of that was mental
  • runs true to size

So, if you are a “bigger” runner don’t think that you need to settle for the shoes that weigh a ton or that you need to put inserts in them. I’ve broken both my feet, torn all the ligaments in my L foot and have no feeling in my R hip and these shoes worked fine (although it was only one run).

Yes the misole is nice once you get used to them. The only bad thing I can say is my cushioning on the right foot became non existant after 150-200 miles. Im going to go try k-ona next.

x2

I used to run in 1224’s due to pronation issues and this season started racing in the KSwiss K-ona’s and love them. I don’t know if I’d run a full IM in them or not, but I had no issues in the oly’s and one 1/2 that I used them in.

And they felt about a pound lighter for me as well.
