I just saw this the other day, Roka released the Maverick wetsuit that retails at $250. With a 20-25% discount that you can sometimes come by for Roka this seems like a really good price point for an entry level suit.
I just bought the Maverick Comp II with 25% off 2 weeks ago, but I might have opted for this one had it been released. FYI - I’m very new to tri’s (only 1 sprint and 1 oly completed), but I’m doing the Chattanooga 70.3 next year and this was my first wetsuit purchase.
I’m surprised that Roka is still developing tri products. They seem pretty content focusing efforts on glasses, which is probably a much larger profit margin.
Tangentially related but does anyone find the need to size up in Roka wetsuits? I purchased a large but I find that my shoulders fatigue out much quicker when I’m wearing it than they do in the pool. I was wondering if maybe going up to an xl would help.

Mine is ML, the recommended size, and fits perfectly.
So I got two swims in the wetsuit and have returned it - just too big (and my own fault) so I returned it for a smaller size.
That said - I find it to be fast, comfortable, floaty enough and I only expect that to be better with a better feeling wetsuit. Super comfortable. Unfortunately I probably won’t have it for Maple Valley this weekend but I am excited to try the new size soon.
Cautiously optimistic, but they seem to have a winner here. Just follow the sizing recommendations haha.
Just an update - got the correct size and swam again in now cold water last weekend.
The Maverick feels - simple? Like…it goes on fine but there’s not the feeling of multiple panels and all these bells and whistles like my Orca 3.8. It feels thinner, and one would suspect that it would have been cold but I was quite comfortable once got a little acclimatized. I suspect the water was sub 55 (no booties or cap - because I don’t have them but the people swimming with me did).
I will say this - I think this is the fastest wetsuit I have swam in. I’m excited to get more swimming in it, but it feels good, shoulders feel great, and I was swimming loops as fast and faster than I was doing a couple weeks ago with the old suit all out. It’s going to be interesting to see how long this one lasts, and how it would compare to more expensive Roka suits, but I’m pretty blown away with this suit so far. Can’t wait to see how Indian Wells goes for sure!
