New road bike (Colnago vs Look)

Hi

I’m on the market for a new road bike (currently own a Pinarello FP2 which is 3 years old). Options seem to have come down to a Colnago CLX 3.0 (Ultegra Di2, $4,200) and a Look 586 SL (Ultegra, $3,800). Both bikes fit me well, and ride pretty good based on test rides I’ve done with them

I’m leaning towards the Colnago but wanted to get feedback from previous owners to facilitate the decision

THEY WILL HAVE TO PRY MY COLNAGO FROM MY COLD DEAD HANDS
To paraphrase C Heston.

I absolutely love my Dream HP;

It’s probably about 7 years old but I’m never parting with it.

Colnago’s are different. Their geometry is different. Their sizing is different. Every cyclist should get the chance to ride a Colnago at least once in their lifetime!

What are the main (if any) differences between the two?

I bought a Look 585 about 8 years ago. Kept it 3 years. I bought a C59 2 years ago. Best bike I’ve ever had. Just a great do-it-all road bike.

I recommend that you consider buying a 2014 C59 frame set when the 2015’s come out and transfer your parts. Then upgrade as you can afford it.

Unfortunately, I crashed hard on Monday. The best part? I was on my old Litespeed and not my Colnago!

Excel is having a huge sale on leftover CLXs. Not many left.

The ride quality of a Colnago is incredible. Handling is also superb and confidence inspiring. I own a C50 and a C59. Absolutely love them. C59 is the best bike I’ve ever owned, a role the C50 played before that.

Just curious: why not another Pinarello?

I have a 6 year old C50 and a 11 month old CLX.

They are both amazing. The CLX is almost every bit as good as the C50, and some prefer the modern curvy design, and is at a more affordable price point.
