I know they are a smaller manufacturer but I thought I would give some love to Ridley for their new TT bike which replaced the 113a which I have ridden the past 3 seasons. Looks a lot like the original Shiv.

I like it, but unfortunately there’s not much of a difference between TT bikes anymore. They all look very similar, appear to have a lot of the same aero features/benefits and rely on a modular front-end to accommodate various fit needs. The more I look at the Triathlon Shiv, the more I can appreciate Specialized’s vision for having a true Non-UCI frame.
Absolutely shitloads of Ridley Deans around when I raced in Belgium last fall. Weird looking things.
Why is this unfortunate? I think it’s great to be able to get a fast bike from more manufacturers than just Cervelo.
As the tunnel data gets closer between bikes, to paraphrase a quote from Mr Mott, our choices are now mainly based on paint and price.
This is a great thing as a consumer, yes?

And even more bizarre when bright green

Yes, it’s great to be able to get a fast bike from more than one manufacturer, but that doesn’t mean it can’t be unfortunate that they all “look” the same. Did you not expect the new X-bike (in this case the Ridley) to look pretty much like it does?
As long as most manufacturers are making UCI legal bikes, which only a few can get away with having UCI legal and non-UCI bikes, yes, the decision will be partly between paint and price. I guess what I’m saying is I wish there was more room for creativity.
Come on, they are pretty spiffy and unique.

Yeah, the UCI versions are now very homogenous. Shiv TT, Giant Trinity, Blue, Plasma, ect…
I like what you did there with the Shiv Tri bar and stem! Do you find the ski bend to be better for positioning or comfort (or both)?
I’ve been pretty happy with the TriRig bend thus far. But have considered the Skis.
got enough RD cable sticking out there?

The Shiv bar provided SO much more adjustability then my Ventus bar. When i had my FIST fit done it was impossible to get my right using the Ventus. I like the ski bend better as it holds me in my position better. With the S-Bends I was constantly sliding forward on the right side.

Yeah, I have had the LBS fix that since.
These new bikes are all looking strikingly similar to the Norcom Straight.
At 2300, Fuji might be the best bang for your buck at the moment.
more importantly, is the Zoot team working to get Ridley as sponsor next year???

No. They were difficult to work with as they have such a small US presence and we had trouble getting all of us, especially the gals, fit.
Another example of convergent evolution, but to Ridley’s credit they will offer this frame in custom geometry, as it is constructed using the tube-to-tube technique.
The custom geometry sounds great, I wonder what the framesets will go for. I have had my heart set on a Boardman AiR but this may win
Just saw a post on FB that the new Dean will come in both UCI and Tri versions. No further info on what the differences will be. But, nice to see the bikes are seeing that we as triathletes need and welcome our OWN line of frames.
Custom geometry and an integrated aero bar made by Ridley have been confirmed so far… we’ll have to wait and see if they decide to make a version with form factor greater than 3:1.
Now that disc logo might be just the thing I need to get my wife to allow me to buy a disc - Tell me - What disc, and vinyls (from where)? or?
