New pool construction

Now they have to replace all the coping because they can’t source enough of our existing marble to replace all the pieces that became discolored. Not sure how much of a chore that’ll be to replace stuff underneath the cage but their problem and not mine. We re switching to travertine and something with a bit more color to it.

How our marble is supposed to look:

I would have said, “How much of a discount do I get if I’m ok with the discolored tile?”.

Thought about that but it looks really bad and every piece is stained differently so there’s no uniformity.

Did the contractor offer a discount?

Wasn’t offered and didn’t ask. Not a lot of money in the grand scheme of things. The upgraded coping was only $2,500.

I’m surprised they continue to use that product since it seems to be a known issue.

I have a feeling they won’t be offering it as much in the future. That said, pool two streets over from us is about two or three weeks ahead of us and has exact same brand marble in a slightly different color and not one stain. Same guys installed it using all the same construction processes and materials. :man_shrugging:t3:

New coping is installed.

Let’s get this thing finished already. We’re going to need a place to hang out when this place gets shut down.

Or a 6 month supply of eggs.

The coping issue set us back 3-4 weeks. I think it will be finished by first week of April.

So general vicinity…where are you retired to in FL (not that I’m stalking you, yet, just interested as my parent company is based there & supposedly I’m supposed to relocate at some point). Leaning to Vero Beach area right now.

I’m in Nocatee. Master planned community located between Jacksonville and St. Augustine.

About 200 miles north of Vero Beach.

I ran a finco there for a few years.

Ponte Vedra area very nice.

Condolences on your football team.

Hope downtown Jville comes back

Not my football team. I think it’s funny the Jaguars suck. :grinning:

We bought a home and that came with it. Of course the issue is that we won’t get in it before May now that we are farther north.

How do you like that lounging area in the water? My dog would simply lie in there all day (he already does as we have roman steps in ours)…

I’ll tell you in a few weeks. We closed early December and the pool was already winterized. But we got to keep all the pool stuff. I guess we could do our LR meet up here. That way, the clowns of the LR can straighten our veggie bed (the next iteration looks much better with straight planks).
We were going to adopt a german shorthaired pointer, but my 4yo daughter is still scared of dogs, so waiting on this. Maybe we’ll get one that like to chill in or by the pool.

Pool enclosure finished and new coping installed. In the home stretch now.

Final coating of cement to smooth out the pool. My guess is the final pebble surface will be done early next week and once that’s done the pool gets filled with water. There’s still some minor things to be finished as well but almost done.
