New performance center at Chelsea Piers Sports Club in NYC. We have 8 compu-trainers, indoor classes, LT and VO2 testing, bike fitting and a pair of high speed treadmills! Take a look:http://www.chelseapiers.com/sc/sports-training/index.cfm

…but where else can you run a 2 min/mile on a treadmill, and this at an 40 degree incline?
I’d just like to see someone try it…I heard that Mutai guy is in town

Gotta love NYC, haul your bike for a $40.00’class in traffic, bad weather. Form 60 min workout, 2+ hour time investiment. Why not buy the CT, and each class is like buying an ErgVideo.
Thats what I was thinking…but of course with NYC living there’s probably not enough room to have a CT setup

I used to be able to set my CT up in 15 min. Kept my bike in the storage space in the basement of the building, but it was a total pain. When I moved out the city to a house, the thing I was most excited about was having a room just for my CT. I love NYC, but the daily torture.
Or spend $33 on a 45min spinning session at Soul Cycle and work on those push-ups on the handlebars… I will take the compu-trainer class any day!

Take a look at the prices for the rest of their “services”.
Holy crap, 300$ VO2 max test and 200$ LT test or 400 for both of them. That is obnoxious especially seeing how they can pull the LT from the VO2max test

Have you seen the place? They have enormous overhead, and most young well to do members. But I agree, it’s nuts. Makes the testing at the old Cadence NYC sound cheap.

In regards to question “If you had an opportunity to use computrainer to ride (60mins ride), how much would you pay for it? Please write dollar amount” I got tons of different answers ranging from: I would use my wife’s unit, 3-4 dollars, 25, or zero(i think i would need to pay them to ride). But the most common amount per ride was around 10 dollars. Interestingly, people who live in the Northeast and have to deal with cold weather would pay the least or just ride outside
I wanted to open similar thing across the river in NJ. I am curious how they arrived at $40 a pop!!!
Or buy a used computrainer for $1100…27.5 “sessions” and that B is paid off!

But Soul Cycle is all about the pretty and model-type girls that come to class, or teach it. Can you guys do that?
I was a member at CP for around 4 years…it is expensive as far as gyms go (I think my monthly membership was ~$170/month when I left 2 years a go) but it is a magnificent place and is generally very uncrowded (for NYC standards). Reason why I left though is because it is a hike to get to and even more so when my job moved from the West Side, so I found myself going only about once a month (instead I already had another membership at a more convenient gym (NYHRC) and was going there instead). If you live nearby though and actually would use the facilities they have that most others don’t (indoor running track, beach volleyball, basketball courts, boxing ring, climbing wall, swimming pool is OK as well) and have the cash then it is worth it. If you are just gonna run on treadmills and do weights, etc, then probably not worth it unless you like to pay a premium for nice locker rooms, etc.
KUS - never knew you were into the model-type girls… We are just going to be into old school sweating it out on the compu-trainers. something I recall you were quite good at!
