NEW: Palmdale Masters Swim Program

We held our inaugural Masters Swim program session at the new, hitherto unused Marie Kerr Pool in Palmdale CA. I am the Masters Swim Program coach (moreover a Triathlon Coach with plenty of swim background) and was lucky enough to get Mark Montegomery’s attention as a community athletic bullwark this evening. My goal is to align Mark and Dan’s training program direction with this burgeoning community program so that we maintain individuality or uniqueness, but benefit eachother synergistically.

For those interested, I know we are now in the Tri-and Competitive swim off-season…still this program is going to go places even if we have slow inception this winter -the point is…an unused pool, is a useless pool -I would rather put 10 dedicated swimmers in the water who want to quality train in swimming or Triathlon for the next 3 months -than allow it to sit fallow. All you have to do is periodize properly. I wax but come down and try a session after Dec 10th - If the pool or myself does not grab your interest or challenge…then so be it. I will be accomodating beginner and advanced swimmers and triathletes - so I dare you to try it out…M-F 6-8 PM.

More to follow in the weeks to come, but hope some of you give it a try and add the program and location to your training repetoire.

woo hoo! count me in. as you might know, during the summer we have our own – ahem – backyard pool, so we’ll be attending less often. but we’ll be there with bells on during the winter.

our place is full of horses right now, so i’m playing roy rogers and didn’t get to go to the meeting last night. did you discuss a bubble cover, or anything of that nature?

This is great! We will have the Gals of Slowtwitch do a session or two in April.

I went to the meeting last night, and this is a great pool. Outdoors right now, but word is that they are going to get a bubble for it soon. THe water is heated to about 83 degrees, and there are about 10 lanes or so. THis is a great facility, and the masters program will be the first here in the AV. We are long overdue for this kind of program here. Lots of new pools in the area, but it seems that kids doing cannon ballls is the priority around here. I know I will be attending ocasionally, and perhaps I will drop in from time to time for a guest coaching spot if they will have me. Very excited here in Xantusia…
