heard Hoka has one coming out soon - anyone know details?
They sound very interesting but not available until this fall. Bummer.

In the footwear industry, “Fall” means “July-ish.”
.
Well, that’s good to know, might be just in time to help me this season. l’m currently using Conquests, how will these two models compare in terms of amount of cushioning and road feel?
how do you like the conquests? I currently run in last year’s Bondi B’s.
Well, I like them but they’re the only Hokas I’ve ever used so can’t compare to the Bondi. I’ve been dealing with a couple of running injuries and they’ve really helped in that regard. I ditched the quick laces, which didn’t seem like they were going to hold up anyway as there was some fraying after only 3 weeks of use. I like the sense of rebound you get from them as compared with the stability shoes I was previously using. Not quite sure I’m in love with them for faster running (or what passes for fast for me).

To get them off do you have to cut them? I can’t tell how to “unlace them” without cutting.

Yup.
What does a ST’er have to do to get a Hoka t-shirt or hat? I love the shoes and want to let the world know!

The Cliftons will be soft, but the rocker still makes it feel wicked fast when you get up to speed. The RMAT (foam) in the Conquests feels a bit more responsive, but definitely feels like you are wearing “more shoe.” The Huaka will be in that 8oz range, and also uses RMAT for the midsole. I think if you prefer the feel of the Conquest over the Bondi, then you will like the Huaka over the Clifton. I have only ran in the Huaka once, but I got more of a stable and grounded feeling in those vs. the Cliftons. (My preference is still the Cliftons though, can not wait for that shoe launch.)

So…when will we see the product line start carrying over to support athletes like Manzano, Rutt, and Schappert on the track and roads? The Huaka looks like the first shoe from Hoka that I’d be interested in, but I’m REALLY excited to see how the brand identity carries over when the athletes get faster and the distances get shorter.
Hi Zack,
I have the new Bondi 3’s but really miss the extra cushioning I felt from the Bondi 2.
Can you recommend any other Hoka’s that have that same ride/feel (run mainly road and some trail).
Thanks !
FYI - they had some sitting out at the IMTX expo so I picked them up. They will probably be the greatest thing I will ever put on my feet.
They were light and they were absolutely amazing. The woman at the booth said they are out in July.
8.9 oz. 2 mm drop…yes please!

The Clifton and Huaka are some of our first major steps in that direction, and will not be the last. We will have spikes on our track athlete’s feet very soon, and their input will be valuable as we continue expanding our product line. Our brand identity is all about innovative solutions in footwear, so don’t expect to see us limited to just “oversized” shoes. From what I understand, Leo’s favorite Hoka is the Stinson, and for now I think we support the athletes you mentioned about for about 90% of their runs, which should be 100% pretty soon.

We only changed the uppers from the Bondi 2 to the Bondi 3, so you should be feeling the same amount of cushioning. It is also possible that your Bondi 2s feel softer because they are broken, so going to a new shoe with fresh foam just doesn’t feel as soft.
The Stinson has a pretty similar cushioned feel, and come in both a trail and road version. The trail version is great if you are doing a mix of road and trail, though I still take my Stinson Tarmacs (road) on non technical trails without problem.

One note on the quick laces: We recommend cutting at the bottom, that way if you have enough extra slack, you can re-lace and tie them without effecting the locking mechanism at the top.

Yup.
I’m slightly confused what is the difference between the Bondi3 and the Conquest. I normally run in a cushioned plus shoe - which Hoka would you recommend?
Thanks

I can’t compare to the Bondis but I can to the Stinson Tarmac.
I’m not impressed with the Conquest. It has a narrower toe box than the Stinson, which is quite a bummer. The Conquest also has a stiff plastic-like material across the malleoli, and the foot opening is quite small. The Stinson is far more comfortable on my feet, but biomechanically I prefer the lower drop of the Conquest. (I used to run in 0mm drop road gloves before breaking my ankle.)
The new 2mm drop Hoka’s ought to be lovely… IF the toe box isn’t so darn narrow.

Nope. Pull off the plastic covering in the center of the laces. Using a stitch picker–or the like–remove the stitching holding the two ends together.
