New gym bag suggestions

In need of a new gym bag that will keep my wet swim stuff from soaking my running shoes and getting the car seat wet. It would be nice if the bag had room for shoes (12’s) on the end. I’m sure someone out there has a great bag, so fess up.
Thanks ST

I got one from Desoto and love it. Use it for a Transition bag too.

I use the Nathan Quick Change Triathlon bag. The shoulder straps could be a lot beefier and come with a sternum strap, but, it served me well on the flight from Denver to Branson last Sept. It’s rather large, so, even though it reads like it could be a “carry on,” I had to check it as luggage. It’s very spacious. Plenty of room for a two piece wetsuit, helmet, cycling and running shoes, tri clothing, road pedals, fuel belt, four 21 oz water bottles, energy bars, extra change of clothes, large bath towel. Still lots of room left with all the extra pockets inside and out.

Last time this question was asked, somebody recommended a 300 dollar-ish (or more) gym bag…classic.

I saw that too. What a moron. Custom handmade bags made in the US should not be that expensive. It’s offensive.

I have a TYR triathlon bag that works great. However you could go low tech and put your wet swim stuff in a plastic bag like the ones you get at the grocery store and continue to use your current gym bag

Santa brought me a 2XU transition bag which seems to be a great little bag. One large main pocket, a seperate section underneath for wet stuff and a plethora of pockets and things.

just saw two guys at the gym using a bag like this, best i can describe it reminded me of what my bed sheets came in. sorta thicker plastic with a zipper on top.

I saw you rally a crew and go in on the set-up charge and silkscreen/print a batch of custom Slowtwitch gym bags!

…Nothing says douchebag quite like an overpriced “custom made” american “gym bag”…

It takes over 40 hrs to make one bag so they are definitely not overpriced. Also no need for quotation marks around custom made. Each bag is hand made to your specs by yours truly so it is definitely custom made. A $300 bag is clearly not worth it to you but it is to some. To call someone a douchebag just because they purchase and item that cost more than what you are willing to pay is lame. Glad you have a bag that works for you. Enjoy it. Let others use what works for them without label them as douchebags.

you make those???

you make those???

Me and my sewing machine in my basement.

My bad, sorry. I didnt realize it was your personal company. I really didnt mean to rip an STers small business. Again. Sorry.

They really take 40 hours EACH to make?

No worries.

Yes, 40 hours. It’s more of a hobby. My day job is what is paying the bills

Well, after reading some reviews on swimoutlet, I went for the Aqua Sphere duffle, has a wet and dry side. Sounds like it might work. We’ll see.

Ogio Endurance series bags rock! I personally have the 9.0 and love it! Lots of pockets and compartments to keep items separated. Highly recommended!

Wow. That takes some real talent, 40 hours is a long time though. That’s like $6 an hour after materials.

I picked up 2 of them at the Dallas Rock ‘n’ Roll half marathon earlier this year on a buy one get one free deal, fantastic bag and worth the full asking price, even better at half.

The past 2 seasons I’ve been using a Rudy Project Transition 46 bag for daily training (in fact it’s a bit big as a Transition bag on Raceday…):

If you are part of a team/club a lot of times Rudy Project has discount codes available, I know our club does so you can get it for much less than the advertised MSRP.

On a typical day I have:
Wetsuit, goggles, hand paddles, towel in the bottom compartment
Tri-Suit (or cycling kit), gym gear (shorts, shirt, socks, etc.) in the main compartment (each set in its own small drawstring bag that comes with this set-up)
Running shoes (size 10), cycling shoes (size 44) each stacked ontop of each other in the shoe compartment
Gels, blocks, nutrition in one of the large outside compartments
Small towel, HR monitor, running phone arm-band in the other large outside compartment
Sunglasses (in a hard case), deodorant, body spray in the sunglasses compartment
Helmet Strapped to the outside
Bought one of those camelbak water bottle holders you use to hold the bottle to your hand and clipped the strap through that to hold a water bottle

Gets me through pretty much any work-out I need to get done any given day, plus some.

Many years ago, I picked up a compartmentalized Eddie Bauer duffel bag. I use it as a gym bag as well as airline carry-on and camping duffel. I am starting to wish that it would fray or get otherwise worn out, because it has reached the point that I can’t get the smell out, but I am too frugal to replace it.
