Looks like a great idea to be able to carry one or 2 on the bike but they look like they will be hard to clean. Anyone use one?
I used a small dish brush I found at my grocery store to clean my flasks when I used them
.
I’ve used a Hydrapak Soft-flask 150 for a couple years. It’s pretty much the same thing as Gu worked with Hydrapak to design their new gel flask. Anyway, I’ve had mine for a couple years and it cleans out very easily. I just use hot water and soap soon after I’m done. No problems or gunk build up at all for me. The one I use can carry 5 gels (however I put in 4 with a little water to make the gel come out easier through the bite valve). I really like mine. It compresses as you suck out the gels. That causes one little consideration though. You need to estimate the amount of gel to take because there isn’t a measurement line to guide intake of the gels. Not really a problem, but something to consider.
I’ve got one on pre-order.

I am buying entire stock at tri sports now, so you none will be available for you!
I’ve already pre-ordered 2 of them!
Second the HydraPak ones. I use them with homemade gels in a Salomon S-Lab vest for runs >25km. They are easy enough to clean; warm water and washing up liquid. Mind you, I guess it depends what you’re putting in them… but anything gel-like should dissolve and clean easily enough.
I have been using the salomon soft flask/ hydrapack one for over a year now for my gels. Super easy to clean out and if I forget to clean one out and it goes abit rank, I just buy a new one as they are super cheap
We received the notice on these from GU a while back & maybe I’m missing something, but gel flasks have been around for DECADES at a fraction of the price of the ‘new’ GU option…the 1st Endurance Flask is also reusable, can be refilled w/ whatever gel you like & 1/2 the price?
The GU flask is soft (like the Salomon soft flask), therefore when consuming the fluid or gel the entire thing compresses in size whereas the traditional gel flasks are hard plastic

I understand that, I just feel like the wheel continues to be unnecessarily reinvented.

Do you know the dimensions? Would it fit in a larger bento box?

There are 3 different sizes, 148ml (5 fl oz), 237ml (8 fl oz), and 500ml (17 fl oz). I use the 237ml size as I can fit 4 SIS gels in it, it would fit in a bento box, obviously the smaller size would easily fit in one as well

Cheap advertising. I’ve had a Hammer Soft Gel Flask since 2007 and of course the smaller, hard flasks have been around for ever.
Reinvent the wheel and pretend it’s new. Good work!
Pains me to see discarded Gu sachets on trails when these flasks have been available almost for ever. Even works out cheaper to buy gel in bigger containers and decant.
Great, thanks. Thinking of this as a way to avoid the fussiness of regular gels, not to mention possible penalty for littering if I dropped a gel wrapper by mistake.
