Looks pretty decent. Like a slimmed down Vorttice, adding the gills on the side like everybody else. Visor looks to be more of a Giro/Bell style mount, not the older LG pivot.

Yeah, as a current Vorttice owner, I like it. LG helmets are the only one’s that seem to fit my big mellon.
Just checking out all the blogs this morning, and came across a nice gallery on VeloNews of all the aero helmets happening in the tour right now. Still wish that short-tail Selector would come to market, but the Rudy is pretty intriguing.

When it first came out a lot of people were skeptical of the Vorttice’s short tail design, not so much now.

The “gills” on the side appear to be intended to work exactly the opposite of the ones on the S-Works McClaren helmet :-/
Looks like I’m waiting until they release the new A-09. Love Louis Garneau products.

Doesn’t that just remind you of the oval concept fork?
Looks like a nod to the McLaren helmet with the side ports and rear exhaust.

Not exactly…those slots on the original Oval forks were just plain wrong.
In this case, the purpose of each implementation is different. The LG helmet has an opening on the front, which means the inside of the helmet ends up being “pressurized”, and then the gill vents on the side (along with the tail vent) allow the air to escape to the low pressure area behind the head.
On the McClaren helmet, on the other hand, there is NO “intake” vent up front and the vent on the tail is open to the natural low pressure area behind the helmet, which would tend to create a lower pressure inside the helmet. That’s what i meant by “opposite”. The gill vents in that case are facing forward and are supposed to help draw the air close to the sides of the helmet, thereby helping to delay flow separation along the sides. That’s a much more clever application IMHO.
Spoke with a rep a few days ago about the expected release. Looks like sometime in 2014 as they are getting certifications at the moment.

.
Nice helmets.
I know its not quite as aero, but I’m loving my Giro Air Attack Shield. I’ve used it for three races so far, including a 70.3, and another non-ironman branded event with a 180km bike. Feels great.
