Fizik is supposed to be releasing a new Arione Tri 2 (not the carbon version currently available). It’s essentially and Arione Tri but it’s flat and not concave and has a littleless padding in the nose. Anyone have any idea if and when it will be available in the states? I have seen it spec’d for 2007 bikes. Thanks.
David
I’ve never really figured out how to insert/post an image. If you want to tell me how, I’ll try. It’s not yet on the fi’zi:k website.
I also do not generally quote prices as the price often varies from one LBD to another. Best to say, average retail price is the same as the Arione Tri.
Saddle uses the same exact shell, with slightly less padding in the nose and toward the rear. The purpose/reasoning was to level out the saddle - based on feedback from a number of pros/testers. I know what your next question will be: will the Arione Tri be removed from production? At this time, that is up for debate and I do not have the definitive answer.
You’ll have to check www.fizik.it for the answer to that. Those materials also change with the availability of recycled animals. We don’t kill animals nor advocate such, for their skins - we use what is available to keep it from being spattered w blood on the International model runway.
I have an Arione Tri 2 saddle and it is awesome indeed. I actually had the new K1 on the Lucero in Kona from Friday am on and lots of folks were all over it there. That is one fantastic saddle, but in my opinion better suited for road. What it actually is designed for.
It’s a thing of beauty. I ride an Arione Tri, but I am often quite far up on the nose of the saddle. I’d be a little concerned about there being less padding there. There isn’t exactly a lot on the original Arione Tri.
I also have the Arione Tri, and I love it! It’s a 99% improvement over the medieval torture device that came on my Gios. If anything, it’s a little too plush. I would have liked to have seen even a bit less cushioning, especially on the sides, down near the bottom where I don’t even contact. The Arione Tri2 looks to me as though they could have gone even further in removing some of that bulkiness that I never sit on, and made it even lighter.
I agree about the silver; I’m glad they changed that. I didn’t like the way it looked so much, even when it was new, a bit too gimicky for my taste, and now, well… let’s just say that it hasn’t improved over time. I would have preferred all black, and a somewhat more robust material, but it was on sale at Nashbar.
i’m not certain I would want to sit on lizard or a snake, even a dead one.
The saddle you have pictured, runningfoo, is not the Arione Tri 2. That is the Arione CARBON Tri 2 with hollow titanium rails. The shell is quite a bit different from the Arione Tri 2. If you are looking for something more firm, less bulky than the Arione Tri, this would be your ticket to happiness.
