New England Triathlons w/ over 500 People?

I need a list of triathlons with over 500 people in the region of New England (Northern New York, Maine, Vermont, New Hampshire, and Massachusetts). I am new to the area and need to get some good races in.

Thanks!

MA Cranberry Country Tri (oly)
MA Hyannis Sprint
MA Falmouth Sprint

NH Timberman 70.3
NH Mooseman 70.3

… and that’s just to name a few… Go on trifind.com

Pretty much all except the very local ones are 500+ around here

Hey thanks mrtrik,

I did look for tri’s in the vermont section of trifind but they are all small and local. I live in Burlington and I was afraid they would all be down in MA.

Northern NY is not new england BTW but as far as NY goes IMLP and Tupper Lake.

Hey thanks Chris G. Sorry if I offended you. I do have a BA in Geography.Notice I said “Region of New England.” ‘Of’ being a preposition suggesting an area around. And in this case, the area/region around New England. I also live in Burlington, VT so it makes sense that I would ask areas in Northern NY.

Thanks for the suggestions. I will look into Tupper Lake.

Have you considered Northern CT. There is a 1/2 on June 7’th, Rev3, and a 1/2 in the fall Nutmeg mid-late Sept.

As some-one else mentioned. Trifind is a great website to find races.

this is in NY but what about Toughman?

Thanks for thinking of us. This yrs race is already shaping up to well attended-well ahead of schedule.

Many improvements and additions, like: bagpipers and the local HS bands playing on run course to join the cheerleaders on “The Toughman”- the hill that rises 200ft in 1/4m.

Plus Race day bag pickup and later race start at 8am.

Plus Campsites- including cabins, tent sites and RV sites available- 200 yrds away from the start.

Plus the Toughman Community Fund will allow all participants as well as volunteers to raise money for individual charities.

Plus the Toughkids Tri on sept 12th- S-100yrds/B-2m/R1m (ages7-10), and 200yrds/4m/2m (ages 11-14).

Plus the raffle for a TRi Bike open to all race participants.

Plus $7000 purse to the overall top 3 male/female.

Plus some MAJOR sponsor announcements soon.

Mooseman International, NH, June 6
Timberman Short Course, NH: August 22
Black Fly International Tri, NH: July 11
Black Fly Short Course Tri, NH: July 12

Timberman Ironman 70.3 (August 23) and Mooseman Half Iron (June 7) also have over 500 athletes…

There are a TON of races with over 500 athletes in New England, and ALOT of REALLY good races…Lots already mentioned, but I think trifind is a good resource, as is ST:)

Funny, I was certainly not offended. More the masshole redsox fan types that would freak out a bit if you refer to upstate ny as part of new england;-) Burlington is a great town. Have fun.

-Any of KJ’s races in NH
-Vermont sunseries…have never raced one, but know they exist.
-There is a sprint distance race in Lake Placid every monday night in the summer put on by Brian @ high peaks cyclery. It is a mellow local race series but with plenty of fast people…actually some pros now and again.

Thanks to everyone for posting!

Oh yeah… also the Providence Ironman 70.3…

I guess there are tons - just know one knows any in Vermont

Tinman is the one in Tupper Lake.

There is the local series (small) in Shelburne. 4-5 races/year (racevermont.com)

There is also a series at Lake Dunmore (just south of middlebury with 4-5 races including the Vermont 1/2 Journey.) The VT races are smaller, but cheap and easy. http://www.vermontsun.com/triathlon.html

There are also weekly TTs (thurs), MTB (Wed), 5K (Tues) and fast training ride (Tues)

There are also a few in Montreal (Esprit for one).

Are you new to the area? I’m down in shelburne…

Any thoughts on if and when this will sell out. One week before the Nutmeg 1/2 in CT and I’m still deciding.

BCM, we will be closed out before June. Also gets more expensive after may 1st.
hope to see you racing.
