After 15yrs I have grabbed a new xc rig…
I always swore I’d not get specialized due to corporate behaviour etc but here I am with new crux CX disc which I got 25% off… I am morally destitute… I feel dirty…
It’s a lot of bike for the money, which I’ll use for CX road rides in the big hills and gravel races…
After the first ride today I was surprised I didn’t stack… It rides really well… As in in the drops 35-40kmh off road through gravel turns… Just planted…
I guess I am disappointed I myself for relenting morally, but credit where credit is due… Specialized make some good kit… Dammit !!!
So specialized, thanks for the good bike, please stop being corporate douches so I don’t have to feel ashamed… Cheers.
Anyone else got q’s re the new ie fixed SRAM red hydro r’s… Drop me a line… I’ll try and be helpful…
I hosed it down along with myself… And washed my mouth out…
It’s winter so I can get away with riding it in the near dark for a few months… I might put some LOOK stickers on it so as not to upset the other bikes on the rack…
Good job all the road bikes don’t use speedplay… Oh shit, that’s 2 for 2…
I had a Crux ordered when the Spesh thing blew up on social media. I cancelled the order and got a Trek Cronus. I was already torn between the two bikes, but the Trek was a little more expensive. The geometry of the two bikes also worked perfect for me. The Crux is a fantastic bike, too bad the company is run by lawyers. My LBS had a no refund policy on deposits, but he didn’t even try to defend Spesh. He didn’t blame me one bit for my decision even though I was going to a competitor.
Yeah all this was on my mind…
Then I rode it and thought of the hard work engineers had done shouldn’t be dismissed due to some fucktard lawyers…
I was gonna get a Boone 9 disc but this was half the price!!!
Also the trek dealer who is a mate couldn’t be bothered quoting me on a price… He was super busy… The spesh guys in this case we’re mad to discount and change the spec to match my needs… So cool…
The cronos geo wasn’t to my liking, toe overlap… And I wanted disc, have mad descents round here and I wanted to confirm the promise of disc on road… Used it for years on MTB’s…

I wanted rim brakes since this was also going to be my road bike. :). Like I said, you did get a great bike and I don’t blame your decision. If I wasn’t already torn I would have got the Crux. Enjoy your bike.
Regardless, the first thing you want to do is get rid of those horrid stock wheels.
I went with Roval Control MTB wheels for my clincher training wheels. Major step up.
Else, The new brakes work great. We’ll see if they need to be constantly rebled like the last version.
Now that you’re on hydraulics, you’ll feed weird going back to regular brakes on other bikes. It ruins you.
Expert red disk…
Already swapped out bars, stem, fr mech, cassette, qr’s, saddle, seat post, tyres and tubes… Conti cyclocross race 32mm…
I will be switching to stans grail when they become avaiLable…
I would like to use assault slg disc wheels but hard to justify the cost over the grail…
Agree the axis 2.0 are heavy and dead feeling, also not very stiff laterally…
So it’s getting there…
Went riding on local mtb trail yesterdAy… It’s knarly loose and rocky and made me realise my mtb is freaking awesome, tubeless is necessary, big tyres are your friend…
On forest trails though (flowy smoother trails) it was really good…
The discs came in on the off road ride yesterday (bedded In) and now they are good…
Gonna put gp4000s on tomorrow and see how it runs on the road…
My experience with Roval Control (29er) has been awful. I weigh 195 pounds so well within the 230 max. Despite that, I’ve never had a wheel come out of true as much as the Rovals. I use to use Stan’s ZTR that had a max weight of 190. I beat the hell out of them with zero issues. This past weekend, I finally killed my Roval front wheel. My right hand hit a tree and OTB’s I went. Nothing major and not at a high speed. Front wheel was bent. LBS can’t fix it. I’m happy to see it’s dead but upset I have to spend money on a new wheel. Ordered a Stan’s wheel to replace it.
Other issue with this:
My front wheel and rear wheel don’t match. My OCD tendency will start twitching.
I JUST ordered a Quarq power meter. So adding the cost of a new wheel to that money spent makes me want to remove all sharp objects from the house so the wife doesn’t hurt me.
Dude opens shop I think in Canada with Roubaix in the name , spesh acts like dickhwads cos a bike they registered with the name stolen from a row. In France has the same name…
Bike world is up in arms, speech does a backflip and pretends to be best mates with dude with shop…
Just pathetic at the time…
Anyhow, it’s the last thing from my mind while riding and I got 25% off aud retail which is weirdly less than us retail… So I didn’t line their pockets too much
