New Continental GP5000S TR tire

Leaked successor to the GP5000 TL?

Hopefully updated for the new ETRTO standard to make them easier to mount. Would be surprising to see rubber compound upgraded already, but that would be something. It’s already so fast despite the puncture protection

And hopefully hookless compatible.

Call my undereducated but hookless road tires sound like trouble in the making if you’re still running tires in the 2x mm range.

I’ve been running 25mm hookless for the past year. Zero issues. Maybe I’m just lucky.

What pressure have you been riding?

I’m surprised there hasn’t been more chatter on these tires. Anybody riding these? Any substantial differences between these and the regular GP 5000? I’d be curious to know if they are easier to mount. From what I can tell from internet sleuthing, it doesn’t seem worth the price premium to get these over regular GP 5000s.

And are GP 5000s still the generally recommended, particularly for long course tris?

Tons of feedback on these already.

  • They are easier to mount than TL.
  • Not a real change in RR vs TL or the GP5k clincher with latex.
  • Lighter, with a thinner tread and less puncture resistance
  • There is no such thing as a regular GP5000s. There’s the GP5000 (non-TL), GP5000 TL, and GP5000 S TR
  • Yes, generally still a good all rounder for tris

Less puncture resistant for sure and because of the thin construction, sealant and plugs are way less effective compared to TL predecessor.

I wanted to practice using a plug on a spent TL recently . . . It took a ton of work to actually puncture it! I’ve never flatted one of these on the road, and now I know why.
