New Cervelo PX TT bike

Ok, I read post about a new Cervelo TT bike. According to an earlier post this week the P4 is gone for 2012 and a new model called the PX will be out. Any clue? I have a new P4 due in on the 8th and at a significant discount. Cervelo has it on sale at $3499 for frame set which I jumped all over. My P3c needs a rest. Let me know if anyone has any info on this new bike. Thanks

I would be curious to learn more about it. I would guess that it is not going to be due too soon as Garmin rode P4s at TDF. I just got my P4 back yesterday.

Seriously, does anyone one here know about the new Pwhatever it’s called?

The bike currently known in internal channels as PX will be part of Cervelo’s 2012 lineup. The name may very well change as the ‘X’ is more or less a place holder. Look for an all out media launch similar to that of the S5 sometime late 2011 early 2012. PX will be faster than P4, from what I have seen will ditch the integrated bottle, and use an overall simpler design than the outgoing P4. Cervelo is very tight lipped about this project, even with their dealers.

There will be a P"X" in 2012, there will not be a P1. And I can guarantee that the head tube will be too tall as it is on every cervelo.

Do you think it will have a price point of the S5 or will it be a super bike?

Where is the Cervelo Mafia will all sorts of spy pictures and inside information? Remember the buzz around the P3c and P4?

Not sure about the geometry on this bike… Also not sure what you’re speaking about with the head tube being too tall on all cervelos. Either you say in jest or you come from the land of short legs/long torsos/zero body fat/above average flexibility… Which I suppose is possible. But as far as additional info on the PX… I have seen some pictures. I must tell you the photos were doctored by Cervelo in order to hide just enough of the bike not to give away all of its secrets, but just enough to tantalize the imagination. I can’t divulge pricing information. I can say when I saw the price points I was pleasantly surprised… Im sure there will be more info coming out. As far as buzz and insider information, like I said in a previous post Cervelo is being very coy with their dealers as to the particulars to the bike. They kept S5 under wraps very well and I assume PX will have the same secrecy until the frame is submitted for UCI approval which should be a week or two prior to the official launch.

I can also confirm P1 is going away. They have built up good inventory but once they are gone, they are gone. Its unfortunate as the P1 represents such a great value for the beginner/intermediate triathlete.

According a close source, the pricing is less than the P4…

Having missed the boat on integrated stems this is no suprise.

The new S-serie geometry will fit 95% of the people better. A longer headtube for the P serie will help most of us too.

For the S-serie I was not happy with the taller head tube because I am on a 56 soloist with a 12cm long -17 degree stem. But for the P serie I will be very happy when the stack will increase relativily to the reach.

I don’t know why they ‘missed the boat’ on integrated stems. Honestly, with the amount that some triathletes travel, I think that all of the integrated parts are a bit of a pain when it comes to packing a bike. If you use a transport service, then no worries, but if you don’t and aren’t too mechanically inclined, then I think that a lot of the integrated/proprietary parts are a bit overrated. I’d like to basically see a tri bike that looks like the S5 with appropriate geometry. Given the pricing structure of the S5, I bet that the pricing structure of the PX is somewhat similar with the different levels of carbons and layups. And, Cervelo is not the kind of company that is going to introduce a new bike that is ‘slower’ than their best existing one.

This name is too close to P90X for my liking. i am disappoint, cervelo :frowning:

First pics of the PX - as you can see, they went overboard on integrated parts. You think it’s bad now, just wait until you need to call a plumber to help pack your bike.

Not too sure about the aerodynamics, however. I guess they are going for the “lower to the ground is better” theme.

The improvement in speed will come from not having to stop to pee.

x2 on using a bike that uses fairly standard components, being an athlete that travels to many of my races…but I’m not racing at the pointy end of my age group and being able to get replacement parts at the lbs anywhere in the world is a priority…but a tri version of the S5 woud be just fine for the purposes of 98% of the revenue generating public…but I suppose to some degree that is what you get with the P3.

x3 - best things about my QR is that it has a “normal” front end and bosses for 2 water bottle cages. Makes every day use of the thing nice and easy. Worst thing about the bike, the super fancy brakes that are a pain in the ass.

Cervelo is keeping this playing this project pretty close to the vest… Taking orders now, but not releasing many details…

Surprised this post hasn’t been getting more attention, maybe it is just because this is almost NO information out so far on the product…

It has my attention. So does Bikeradar’s article stating that time trial satellite shifters will be available for Ultegra Di2.

Kev, so these are shops taking orders right? I don’t see buying a bike & can’t see or try out so must assume shops are taking orders?
Any “bits” of photos anywhere in the world on this? P4 was in disguise at a TT in Europe before it was release (photo got out before the official announcement), by about a few days or week. It will be interesting to see if this superbike has what it takes to compete with today’s new ones.
