New Cervelo Fork vs Alpha Q vs Reynolds

Any word on the new Cervelo fork? How does it compare to the new Alpha Q Aero fork and the Reynolds Ouzo Pro Aero?

Haim

My LBS had a Cervelo, Reynolds and Profile design all in their shop to compare…holding them in my hand I couldnt feel a huge difference, on the scale the reynolds and PD were lighter. But for the $ you will spend on an aftermarket fork with a Carbon steerer I would rather buy a new wheel or something that is going to have more of an effect than the fork. My 2 cents

I know that he Reynolds and the the Alpha Q are both 400g or less, and I would guess that the new Cervelo fork is in the same ballpark. What I am interested in is aerodynamics. Gerard always builds asuperior product, but the Alpha Q claims to be very fast and the Reynolds has been the standard for the past couple of years. How do they compare? Are the designs constrained to be UCI legal? Gerard, any info on your new fork?

Thanks,

Haim

I’ll stick to the easily verifiable info. I have the new fork here in my office, uncut it is 365 grams. So that’s a bit less than most road forks, and less than any aero fork out that I am aware of.

As for the aerodynamics, I guess there is little point in debating the numbers, all I can say is that I hope all our athletes will use the new fork, as there is no point in wasting time with a slower fork. Aside from the new fork blade profile, the shape of the bottom of the dropout (I’m not kidding) and the crown area, a big difference is that unlike most other forks the Cervelo Wolf fork perfectly integrates with a 1" integrated headset (and to a lesser extent with a 1" exterior headset). We tested the same fork legs and basic shape with and without integrated crown, and the difference was significant. This benefit will be strongest in combination with a Cervelo integrated headset frame, but will also occur on other frames. But the headtube there may or may not match up perfectly with the fork. With non-ijntegrated headtubes, the “shape integration” with the headset is usually good, since the OD of the headset cup is fairly standardized.

It has passed all our fatigue tests and we are in full production on it now, but I am not quite sure when we will have enough to offer them aftermarket.

Thanks Gerard. It sounds like THE fork to have for my P3. What is the best way to get in the que for one of these babys?

Just have your dealer order one for you and it will go in the queue. One note, the Wolf is only available in 700c for now and in 1".
