I just bought my first blender in five years and made a smoothie, but was wondering if anybody had some really good, odd, crazy, unusual recipes or ideas for what I can do with it? It’s an Oster Classic bar-style blender with pulse and on speeds.
I make this for breakfast. Even my kids like it
4oz carrot juice
4oz green machine (naked juice)
1 scoop vanilla protein powder
1/2 cup greek nonfat yogurt
Handful of almonds
3/4 or so cup of frozen fruit. I use Costco three berry blend.
Makes about 16 oz

Protein drink- Skim milk, ice, chocolate protein powder, banana, peanut butter, instant coffee. This is my pre-run drink for most runs over 7 miles.
Easy smoothie, got it off a kids show my son was watching a couple years ago, makes a great base to put anything in.
1 cup skim milk
1 cup frozen strawberries or any other frozen fruit
1 bananna
Then add to the mix whatever protein, flax, omega, etc you want, I add protein powder and ground flax seed to mine.

Really? I never would have thought to add Instant Coffee Before my run! I bet my times would be faster. ;-O
Dave…
One thing I like to do is take certain veggies like broccoli, carrots and spinach and cook them down a bit in a little water. Then I blend them and put the resulting mush into ice cube trays. Then when I make muffins, breads, sauces etc… or even smoothies I can drop a cube or 2 in to get a little extra veggie goodness with little work and no taste (good for the non veggie lovers).
Avoid watery veggies like cucumber or lettuce as they end up over powering any other flavor.
For my morning smoothie I use 1 banana, some frozen mixed berries (rather than ice cubes), a veggie mush cube, soy milk, orange juice and if I need protein often a bit of peanut butter. Looks horrible, tastes great.
