New band for Garmin 920 XT. Amazon or Garmin?

Hey folks,
Just curious if anyone has had to replace the band for the 920 XT?
Mine has finally got a rip in it (after 6 years). I’m just wondering if the ones from Amazon work well or if I should buy the actual Garmin one for the 40$?
Thanks for your insight.

Cheers!

My personal experience (n=1) was I bought a cheap Amazon one and it was in fact cheap and wore really quickly. I ended up getting a garmin band.

Depends how long you intend to not upgrade the watch. If keeping for a while then I’d get the garmin, if a year or less just go cheap.

I got a replacement for 4 usd on aliexpress in 2019, it still as new. I wear 920xt 4-5 times a week.
So I suppose you don’t need expensive Garmin ones.

Wow. 6 years on the original strap? Do you swim? Mine lasted 11 months swimming 5x a week.

I bought oodles of these back in 2017 when my first strap ate it.

They aren’t available anymore. But, I’m sure there are similar options.

I think I bough like 5. I’ve used 2.

I only take mine off to shower. I get over a year of use from these without any failures. They just get a little softer and stretchy. Amazon:

I just did this! I bought a black one and a red one from Amazon. Very happy with it. My original strap lasted - only the keeper piece broke after five years. I swim with it 3x a week so the performance has been great!

Thanks everybody.
I will go with the cheaper Amazon ones. They are the same as the one pictured from previous buyers only a new company name.
As for swimming in my original Garmin strap. Yes I did. Not a lot but I would say on average 2-3 times a week in a pool and summer months in fresh water lake.
It has treated me very well.

Thanks again all!

I went through 3 Garmin straps on my 920XT, the longest any of them lasted was 11 months. At that rate, I figured I had nothing to lose by trying a cheap silicone strap from Amazon, so far that one has lasted over 3 years.

Bought these a couple years ago and they’ve done well

.

I just did this a couple weeks ago from amazon did not fit without Mickey mousing definitely go to Garmin I did the first time everything was right wish I did it again
.

+1 for amazon/ ebay. they work and cheap enough. Although I have not had any issues.

Too bad Garmin won’t make the Enduro nylon type for the 935/945

I have a $7 silicone band off eBay for my Fenix5, and It has lasted 3yrs so far (no signs of wearing out) and is more comfortable than the stock Garmin band (softer and slightly stretchier).

Left my Garmin 935 at home. I always keep my 920 in my swim bag in car. Went to pull it out to use for the day and the strap broke. Pretty bummed. Guess I’m getting a new strap too…might even buy 2.

You use these straps on the 920 series?

I just replaced mine with this, from ebay: https://www.ebay.com/itm/401153885318. Fit was fine, but the holes for the clasp only go 1/2 way up the band. If you have a skinny wrist, you’ll need an xacto knofe (or similar) to cut out the filled in ‘holes’ closer to the watch body. It seems to be holding up fine, but the original lasted 4+ years and the replacement is only installed since early 2021.

The actual Garmin replacement band is $20 on both the Garmin website and on Amazon though.
