New Balance FuelCell TC and RC Elite : first full review and pictures

First complete multi tester review of the NB FuelCell TC :

https://www.roadtrailrun.com/...lti-tester.html#more

Few remarks :

  1. This is NOT the NB “full race version”, planned to be lighter, and still to be announced. And named “Racer” or “RC” ?

  2. interesting comparisons to the VF4% and Next%

  3. interesting comparison to the Saucony Endorphin Speed (not yet the Pro), the tests of these 2 Saucony shoes already done by RTR apparently, but “hold” until end of february.

As said, the Olympic accelerate the issue of very interesting shoes

Edit :
the NB FuelCell RC Elite ar now announced also, see link to photo below.

Not sure if the shoe ran by Seb Kienle in Germany and Kona was the TC prototype or the RC prototype.

So we’re still waiting on some competition for the VF.

Sounds like this tested shoe is better compared to the Zoom Fly 3.

Seems like a solid offering from NB in the Carbon Plate area. My guess is that this won’t be as good as the Vaporfly’s but closer than most of the other stuff that’s out there. Plus it looks like it has a totally different fit, they look better and they have a lower price point than the VFs. These could be big for NB.

I’d agree it could be big but it isn’t supposed to be the competitor to the Vaporflys though. This is the trainer/racer version. I’m looking forward to the release/reviews of the racer version.

New Balance Instagram just announced the NB FuelCell RC Elite an hour ago officially - so we will still have to wait and see!

ETA got all excited but also - that info is in the first post haha

Indeed, with a picture :

So, they are called NB FuelCell RC Elite.
Kind of make sense, as most NB pro triathlete such as Kienle and Boecherer wear clothes with “NB / RC” for weeks, I was wondering if it was a teaser for these shoes… yes it was

The TC (Training Companion ?) is apparently available 14 february.
The RC Elite will probably be available also in a few weeks, to comply with Olympic calendar, as I guess Callum Hawkins is probably waiting for them

Waiting for the RTR review of these ones, and the Saucony Endorphin Pro and Speed.

Last year in the Vitality London 10K Andy Butchart pushed hard to break Mo. Mo managed to win. Mo was wearing the Vapor Fly Next % and Butchart was wearing the NB 1400. I’m sure Butchart is also quite happy to have the Fuel Cell RC.

Pure speculation, but I think Frodeno will wear NB. Check his shorts in latest IG pix.

Another multi tester review of the TC :

Very interesting, and very positive.

Waiting for the RC…

“Es verdad que acaban de salir del horno, pero para conseguir las New Balance Fuel Cell RC Elite tendrás que esperar hasta el próximo mes de septiembre, que es cuando saldrán a la venta en España a través de su página web y tiendas a un precio de 230 euros. Sin embargo, en newbalance.com la podrás encontrar a partir del 24 de marzo.”

My spanish is not great, but look like RC Elite launch is 24 march (web site) but general availability in Europe will be september ?

You are correct. Spain (and I assume Europe) have to wait until September but they will be available on newbalance.com on March 24.

Thank you! Set reminder now

I am guessing not on the 24th then…

Either they didnt release them, or it was impossible to find. Either way very disappointing

Kienle in an interview told that those NB are faster for him than nike vf next%…

Just a few things going on that might make product introductions right now highly problematical…

Well true. And they have a year anyway with the Olympics postponement. Just would have been nice if they made an announcement either way is all

I think the 24th meant for Europe. I thought as well that the 24th was meant for the US so I checked and saw all still sold out. But since I’m based in Europe I also checked the Netherlands NB site and crazy enough they were on stock. In my size just 1 pair and I see now just a few left.
I wear a small size so when they arrive and I like them I can also order a womens size
