New 3T Fork Install...Does this look right?

Just installed a new to me 3T fork on my P2C (replacing the Wolf fork). The fork crown race was already installed and it seems to have an extra “ridge” compared to the Wolf fork. This adds an additional 1.5 - 2mm of space between the frame and the fork. It seems very solid, but I just wanted to make sure this was normal as the gap is larger than what I had with the old fork (and also larger than what I have on my R3 which has the same 3T fork).

So, does this look right? Anyone else have this extra gap when moving to the 3T fork? Thanks in advance.

this does not look right! I am no wrench but mine definitely does not look like this…

Questions: Did you replace the headset at the same time you replaced the fork and the bearing race? If it’s an FSA race and a Cane Creek headset/bearings, they are machined at a different angle and won’t seat properly.
If that’s ok, is the lower bearing in the correct way?

Are you sure the race is seated correctly on the crown? I have installed these on a couple of Funda forks and in all cases the force required to seat the race was considerable. The steerer seems to flare out as it joins the crown to ensure a good press fit with this it is a very very tight fit.

bring both forks to the LBS and have them swap the race.

No, I didn’t replace the headset so that could be the issue. I think the suggestion from PaintIt to swap the fork races would address this. The lower bearings are in correctly. Thx.

Great idea and I’m almost positive this will fix the issue. Thx.

Not right at all. Crown races are not universal, and you need to do a swap. Hopefully you or the lbs will be able to get the race off without damaging it. It might be worth getting and installing a new wolf race just to be safe.

Learning a lot today. Would it also be possible to swap the lower bearing in the headtube to a 3T compatible race? Would this be easier than risking damaging the fork/fork race? Thx!

your LBS shoudl be able to remove the crown race without damaging the fork.

Cool. Thanks guys.

+1 for it looking wrong… did you get a deal on black? A white fork would have been slick.
