New 2022 Canyon Speedmax CF 7/8 Disc: slightly heavier, more expensive, 4iiii Powermeter included

Sorry if this has already been posted but I just noticed Canyon added the new CF 7 and CF 8 Disc bikes to their website. Availability: Summer 2022.

For what I can tell, both bikes are more expensive but they come with the 4iiii Powermeter included. This is probably good new for those without power meters, but I’d rather pay the original price and use my own, or if this was offered as an add-on instead. Both bikes also come with a new saddle: Selle Italia Watt Superflow, instead of the Fizik Mistica.

Other notable changes on the CF 8 Disc: it’s a slightly heavier bike: from 9.32 kg to 9.54 kg. They switched the bottom bracket from Shimano Pressfit BB72 to Token Ninja Lite BB4124 PF86.5, but that’s just 14g difference. They also got a new seat post: from Canyon SP0048 TT CF to Canyon SP0048 Aero Seatpost (they didn’t list the new weight). Talking about the new seat post, it looks like it change the geometry of the bike regarding the seat hight.

The CF 7 is also heavier, but just by a little bit. It also got new wheels: DT Swiss P 1800 Spline db (lighter / aluminum), instead of the Reynolds AR58 DB (carbon).

I like their concept here for the most part. I didn’t know they had a simpler/basic version of a disc bike. I for some reason thought they jumped from this to the Uber bike for 20221/2022.

This seems to give more of a better starting spot for disc brake bikes and then jump to a better aero bar setup.

I just honestly can’t stand seeing that wire hang out in the open. Is it able to placed in the head tube like the cervelo p-series can (hack).

9.54 kg! That’s 1 kg heavier than the non-disc version. Add some cage bottles and garmin mount and you have lighter MTB bikes.

In 2-3 years, manufacturers will remember weight is important and tell us we need to buy their new $8-10k bike to go back to 8 kg

Pretty sure QR have already started that process with their latest models marketing.

That’s about the same weight non-premium (and some premium) tt bike have been forever.

Yet you are paying $7-10k for that weight…

No, you’re paying $4.6k for that weight, for the 8.0. Once again, there have been tt bikes which cost over $10k that weigh right around 9.5kg for basically forever. The rim brake speed concept which people present as the pinnacle of rim brakes is an absolute pig when it comes to weight. I guess all I’m saying is that nothing has changed

I also see that they have removed mentions of the internal hydration and the pictures no longer show that “mouth” on the top tube. I may be wrong though.

21lbs and cables everywhere for $8KUSD. what is happening with the triathlon bike biz?

Has ST found the ‘hide the cables’ hack like the have for Cervelo?

edit: Cervelo P5 is $9500USD and P-series Di2 ultegra is $6500USD. Not sure how Canyon’s DTC is cheaper. I get no 4iii on these Cervelo’s but can find PMs cheap these days.

When we say 9.54 kgs that’s including wheel set correct?

The cost is pretty clearly $4.6k USD. Cables everywhere is quite the exaggeration, and that setup makes it much easier to adjust and work on, which is a plus for most people. Given the aero impact of those cables is 0, it’s quite a good choice. I don’t even like canyon bikes and you all are being ridiculous about this.

My hate for cables is not aero! It’s aesthetics and annoying knee bumping up on cables out of saddle.

Cervelo is a far better deal IMO.

That’s my redic commentary FWIW

Pretty sad that the 7 no longer comes with spiffy “race-worthy” wheels. The value proposition is considerably less compelling now.

When we say 9.54 kgs that’s including wheel set correct?

Correct. Then you add bottle cages, pedals, etc.

Good luck getting one before 2023.
