Looks like they increased tire clearance, added internal routing, DI2 routing, and added the Supersix fork. looks like the seat stays/chain stays are slimmer as well? Possibly a slight weight reduction?
Looks like the evo is finally going to go aero… Camm tail down tube?
I believe I read somewhere that the CAAD12 is getting slightly larger tubes, so the worst bike on the market for aero* gets even worse.
Bit of a shame as it’s pretty much the best bike on the market for racers on a budget.
*Pure speculation
I saw the new CAAD bike tonight outside the Bahati RV at Tulsa Tough. If I hadn’t read this thread earlier, I never would have realized it wasn’t just a caad10. It looked pretty slick in person, and the solid color looks great. The cable routing does look a little weird around the rear skewer, but otherwise it looks like a really clean bike. .
CAAD12 Disc:
They were doing a photo shoot for the new EVO on Deer Creek Road in Malibu a few weeks back. Drones and everything. I only heard about it after the fact so didn’t get a chance to see it. Seems like the official unveiling should be soon. All indications are a “semi-aero” bike, like a Madone or R5.

I was really hoping for a bit more innovation. Cannondale always has good attention to detail, but it is kind of hard to get excited about this.
Hmm, 25.4mm seatpost. Just recently had to buy a 27.2mm integrated post from Dash Cycles when I switched over from an S5, now I gotta buy another integrated post if I wanna switch over to the new EVO? And of course Dash has to agree to make a 25.4mm post.

HAD to buy? This is the firstest world problem of all first world problems ever.

Well no question it is. But for me, the Dash Strike.9 is the most comfortable saddle I have ever ridden and so it is on all of my bikes (3 of 4 with the integrated saddle). So when I switched from an S5 to the EVO, I had to buy a 27.2 post if I wanted to be able to move the saddle over to the new frame. Just saying that a switch to the new EVO over the current model will for me at least also require a seatpost purchase (again, my n=1 experience and absolutely a first world problem of the highest order).

I’m pretty excited about it if their “claims” are valid. 70 grams of drag reduction and 70 grams of weight reduction are not too bad in an all around bike. Also, really liking the fact that this new high mod evo is available in an Ultegra version. In the past, the high mod versions have been limited to Red/DA/DA di2 which put it out of my price range.
My LBS is a Cannondale distributor and I can get a pretty deep discount on them so I do have some bias.
I like the direct mount chain rings, I use them on my mountain bike. The Slate is an interesting bike, a bit ugly for me but looks innovative.
Colors are pretty bad again IMO. Also there’s no EVO with Ultegra Di2?? Tire clearance is the biggest win here…I can’t run anything over 23 on wide rims with my current EVO.
When is the CAAD12 expected to hit the market? Anyone know rough idea of cost?
Do you have the integrated saddle/post or something? Why not buy the normal version of the Strike.9 saddle? It seems like it would be way cheaper in the long run.
Well at the risk of sidetracking this post, my point was simply a note that the new EVO will require riders looking to upgrade to switch posts. For many, that will be NBD, others will have an aftermarket 27.2 post that they really like and will factor that into their purchase decision. I doubt for any it will be a deal killer. I’m a dork and already had a spreadsheet prepared for what it would cost me to get the new EVO with di2, use the di2 from my current EVO on my cross bike, and sell my current EVO frame and SRAM Red components on the cross bike. I will just have to add a row for a 25.4 post now.
My n=1 experience with the Dash integrated saddle/post came from having my P5 nice and pretty and dialed in and then looking at the ugly and IMHO cumbersome clamp/saddle area. My P5 came with the old style 2-hole aero post and a clunky clamp and when you compare that to the Dash integrated setup, it’s like night and day (again, IMHO). The Dash integrated post is all aero carbon goodness right up to the base of the saddle - no clamp, no rails, no nothing. Just pure aero goodness. I’m not a weight weenie so the weight saving was just gravy for me. And once you go integrated on the TT bike, it’s hard to go back to clamps and rails on your other bikes. At least that’s how it was with me. But yes, the standard saddle would certainly be less expensive. No argument there.
